As a visitor from Montreal, I stopped by BB Cafe in Toronto to try their Iranian pastries, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The café itself is pretty standard—nothing fancy in terms of ambience, just a common, casual space. But what stood out was the friendly and polite staff, who made the experience more enjoyable. I tried their Rollette cakes in three flavors: vanilla, chocolate, and coffee. The price was quite reasonable—3 for $10.80, which I found fair. Taste-wise, the vanilla and coffee were my favorites, both a solid 7/10. The chocolate was a bit underwhelming for me, closer to a 5/10. What I appreciated was that the cream filling was light and fresh, and the overall sweetness level was more balanced—not overly sugary like many typical Canadian desserts. That said, if you’re familiar with the original Bibi brand in Iran, this location doesn’t quite compare in terms of authenticity or taste. But for a local Iranian bakery in Toronto, it’s still a good spot to visit, especially if you’re craving something nostalgic with a lighter sweetness profile. Would I recommend it? Definitely. It’s a good introduction to Iranian-style cakes, and worth a try if you’re in the area.

We’ve been loyal customers of BB Cafe for many years, always loving their cakes and pastries. In fact, we even chose their walnut cake for our wedding. Unfortunately, our recent experience left us very disappointed. We spent about $90 on a selection of pastries and a cake, excited to share them with our family — but were surprised by the decline in quality. The napoleon was soggy and mushy instead of crisp and fresh, and both variations tasted stale. The walnut cake, which used to be a favorite, no longer had the same flavor or quality we remembered. It’s disheartening to see a place we used to love fall short like this. Based on this latest visit, my family and I won’t be returning anytime soon.

I recently visited BB cafe on Nowrooz day, the Persian New Year, and was delighted to find that they served a traditional Iranian sweet, Persian Chickpea Cookie (Shirini nokhodchi). The cookie was absolutely delicious and a perfect way to celebrate the holiday. I also had the chance to check out the cafe on the second floor and ordered a cup of Chai Masala. The tea was very tasty, but overall, the cafe was quite expensive. Despite the high prices, I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and the chance to try some traditional Iranian treats. If you're looking for a special spot to celebrate a holiday or enjoy a unique dessert, BB cafe is worth a visit.

I WOULD GIVE THIS PLACE A 0 IF I COULD. i am usually a frequent customer of this cafe, yet i had a TERRIBLE experience the last visit i had. I entered the store and proceeded to wait inline for my turn to order, there was one person ahead of me. Seconds later a massive group of iranian people came by and stood inline behind me. Instead of servicing me first they began to proceed to EVERYONE ELSE BEHIND ME. Several people ordered, paid and left before they even acknowledged the fact that i was there waiting inline. I am a very patient person, therefore i didnt feel the need to get upset quickly hoping they would acknowledge my presence soon. They didnt, i believe the manager was present as well and completely ignored me. As i was walking out an asian lady came up to me and acknowledged that she went through the same experience earlier. i later walked over to a supermarket right next door, and was greeted with such respect and kindness, they knew i couldnt speak the language but served me as a customer no matter the language barrier. I am an iranian myself, and just because i could not speak the language i was not attended to as quickly as everyone else who came after me. I have NEVER been so disrespected in my life by my own people and im exteremely upset about the situation, as a university graduate who tries to diminish the ways iranian people are portrayed i hope this isn't how our culture is seen by outsiders. Never going back.

RESPONSE to their comment: I had good experiences earlier because every time i came i was with a iranian who could speak the language and this time i came alone. I will never be coming back to this location, because its very clear in your reply that you dont seem as apologetic as you should be and see this more as a mistake. This was Not a mistake, your staff was intentionally ignoring me and taking other customers because of the language barrier. This is canada everyone should be served equally and in line and if language is a barrier make sure to hire people who can speak the english language. After reading several other posts i can see racism is a BIG issue here, and im a very well educated university graduate who is disgusted by the way my own race treats...

I used to be a big fan of this place, actually my whole family was,we always bought our cakes and sweets her since it opened ,I always would recommend it to my friends, and it's a great pastry and it's always busy and anyone can understand that but being rude and disrespectful is unacceptable I ordered a walnut cake (that I always ordered) but this time it was a special occasion and I had a party for over 25 people, after waiting for 30 minutes I get the cake and see that they wrote with a vivid pink color on the cake which was for boy I explain that I didn't want the writing in pink and can't you see that this name is a boy's name (a very very common Persian boy name) and instead of apologizing the staff was so rude that she said we'll it's not that bad it's a light pink he won't mind it and it's your fault that you didn't emphasis on the color ,I got so mad that I started yelling at her telling her if she's color blind and why the hell is it my fault?! You guys can't do your jobs right stop blaming the customer Then after they got me angry and saw me yelling the finally started to come up for a fix to the problem but non of them apologized at all So I bring the cake home and we cut it start eating it seeing it has no walnuts at all ,I was sooooo mad that if the store was open at that time and I didn't have the guests I would taken the cake to the store and did something very very wrong... I paid for a walnut cake and it was just a normal chocolate cake It's just unacceptable I was a big fan before this happened but I will never ever buy anything from...

I have NEVER written a review for a place but i am so disgusted by this place that i am going out of my way to make sure everyone knows this. I began by reading other reviews to see if this was a one time occurrence and as i thought it wasn't. There is a review written by another lady in regards to the disrespect of taking all other customers and completely ignoring her as she was standing inline and I went through the exact same experience. They completely ignored my presence and as a new customer i was absolutely disgusted. I was going in as a friend told me they had nice cakes and pastries, and wanted a massive event catered meaning the store would've gotten a great amount of business from me. Yet, i walked in and was in shock as i got ignored, got dirty looks, got discriminated against as im not iranian. I would never go back to this place and i would never get any of my friends to go back, they are absolutely discriminatory against any race that isn't Iranian. And i can see that in several reviews there is a constant sense of rudeness, and bias against their own kind. Thats okey though because the way this store is going, they are ruining their own reputation losing hundreds of customers. Goodluck with keeping sales going i will make sure to spread the word about this location. i would give this less than 1...
