why it is so bad: • SO UNHYGIENIC the way they have so much of their prepared food and sandwiches just out in the open near people’s faces and near the cash register • because they leave their croissant sandwiches out in the open they get very flat and they oxidize and become a greasy mess •SO expensive for such mediocre stuff ($15 for a flat, greasy, gross croissant sandwich that sat out uncovered for hours, possibly days) • the cupcakes look incredible but sometimes you’ll get one that tastes so stale it tastes MOLDY.. I swear sometimes they taste like it’s 3 weeks old… and other times tastes delicious.
There are so many things really that one could say. It LOOKS so inviting and delicious and interesting and has SO much potential but the food is just absolutely horrible. I have been there maybe 10 times because I just really wanted to love it so bad. Sadly going again and again has only solidified my opinion more and more. Things LOOK good but they are only good if you order fresh. You can ask which cupcake is freshest but then comes the staff attitude issue. The staff will be nice sometimes and then very rude other times. So I can imagine if you ask which cupcake is freshest maybe they would answer nicely one day and then maybe another day they’ll be rude about it…… anyways…… I am done going here sadly. I wanted to badly to love it because it is in a great location and has such an inviting atmosphere and LOOKS so amazing.. but I’m so tired of being disappointed and...
Read moreWow! I was in the neighbourhood with my wife and we were already on our way home but when we walked by this place the warm light from inside caught our attention. We went in and were instantly hit by the heavenly smell of brewed coffee and freshly baked pastries. The atmosphere is really cozy and welcoming and I needed no convincing to order a Pastel de Nata. I mean seriously, look at the pictures I am attaching. I have tried many different pastéis in different countries and cities. This was the best, by far! The outer rim has this perfect crisp to it and the inside is warm and gooey. The host, JP (really nice and friendly guy btw, great service!!) explained that they make them fresh in small batches throughout the day rather than making a whole bunch in the morning or the day before and then letting them sit out all day getting stale, like many other places do. It showed. They tasted like they came right out the oven. Anyway I could go on, the coffee was excellent too. Really though, rather than me listing more reasons for you to go here you should just make it your mission to go here. If you love cute cafes with a welcoming homey atmosphere and amazing baked goods and coffees (they do sandwiches too), you NEED to go here. We will be...
Read moreThe customer service here is terrible. I live around the corner and this is my first experience here. We purchased a sandwich that, to our surprise, ended up coming to $17 (they don’t have prices listed on anything.) We had come in on a whim to grab something to eat and already had drinks with us, and wanted to eat the sandwich quickly on the stools by the window. As we began to eat, we were rudely told by a woman that we weren’t allowed to eat our $17 sandwich inside because we had brought outside drinks in. She tried to claim that “her boss” wouldn’t allow it, although it was quite clear she was the boss. Ironically, we were the only customers in there and were being forced out after purchasing their food. This situation could have easily been handled by politely letting us know that in the future we can’t bring outside drinks in, but instead we were treated as if we had personally offended her by trying to sit inside and consume their extremely over priced sandwich with our own drinks. Unsurprisingly, the sandwich was just okay. As someone who has lived in this neighborhood for years, there are countless other cafes and small businesses that have better products, better prices and more importantly much better service....
