For me it was hit or miss here. I an critical when I feel like I did not receive my value for money. What I liked: great mid week promos like $1 a shuck and 50% bottles cocktails prices were reasonable, and my drink tasted amazing loved my braised beef main, fell off the bone and flavourful dished seemed to be made with care, and seasonal ingredients. offered something different than traditional which is why I love gastropubs in general
What I did not like: my braised beef main was $40. I know escalating costs, but it felt like a lot when all other mains were $30-$35. the mashed potato was also very buttery, and I could not finish it as I started to feel ill. kids were offered a burger or fish and chips. this isn't on the menu and I did not know the price. (should have asked). asked for burger toppings like lettuce and tomato, but upon arrival, we were told that they "didn't do that for kids burgers". ?!? a) tell us you can't. b) you serve other burgers, they don't have lettuce and tomato? c) it's an extra charge, give us that option d) it's just a piece of lettuce dessert was less to be desired. No menu again, and therefore no prices. Creme brulee didn't taste right. We also go the pear crumble. I already asked how big? should my kids share it? and he said, it's small. So we got 2. But it was a big portion, imo. 2 adults would have shared it. on top of that... the pears were hard, and it was tasteless. It's like oatmeal just thrown on top of some microwaves pears. oh, and it was $13 each that appeared on the bill afterwards.
After processing this, I think my issue may have come down to service and setting the expectations on portion size ,...
Read moreRecently, I had the pleasure of venturing to this gem nestled in the heart of the city, accompanied by my amazing team of colleagues. And let me tell you, it was an experience to remember!
Our taste buds danced with delight as we delved into the appetizer selection, starting with the beautifully baked soda bread, and crispy-on-the-outside, creamy-on-the-inside roasted pepper croquettes. Each bite was a symphony of flavors. Next came the Lobster Mac ânâ Cheese. Creamy, cheesy, and decadent, it was a heavenly marriage of indulgence and sophistication.
For the main course, we couldnât resist diving into the classic Steak and Ale Pie. Encased in buttery pastry, the tender chunks of beef bathed in rich, savory gravy were a testament to British comfort food at its finest.
Brambleâs drink menu features amazing drinks. Our evening was elevated by the Crimson One â a delightful blend of blueberry, rosemary, and violet liqueur that danced on our palates with every sip. And how can I forget the Espresso Martini, infused with rum and bourbon, accompanied by a sinful chocolate truffle? It was the perfect nightcap to our gastronomic journey.
But what truly made our evening unforgettable was the impeccable service provided by our server Jordan, whose witty banter and infectious charm had us in stitches throughout the night. With a catchphrase that left us giggling â âdo you know whatâs in the ocean?â â his British humor added an extra layer of enjoyment to our dining experience.
So, if you find yourself craving an escape into the realm of British comfort fare, look no further than Bramble. Your taste buds will thank you, and your heart will be filled with warmth...
Read moreA day or two after having lunch at Bramble, I sent an email to them, offering advice on improving their crackling Cobb salad. Since many days have elapsed with no reply, I am now offering this review. Avoid the Cobb salad. It is overpriced and misnamed. There is no crackling whatsoever in the salad. There is some form of pork, but I think it is either pancetta or bacon. It is definitely not crackling. Some people might like cold boiled eggs with a soft center. I have only had a Cobb salad with hard-boiled eggs. Jammy eggs, cold, are stomach turners. A patron should be given the option of an egg with a soft centre or a hard center, particularly when the egg is cold. The avocado was not ripe. To their credit, the Romaine lettuce, the cherry heirloom tomatoes and the cucumber were fresh, succulent and tasty. Unfortunately, 90% of the salad was comprised of romaine. This attempt at subterfuge fails. There was a wonderful cheese sprinkled among the abundance of Romain⌠Shropshire. Unfortunately, there was less than a tablespoon and it was sprinkled, so there was no real opportunity to savour this finer cheese. If thatâs all they can afford to put in the salad, it would be preferable to provide it in a little chunk so a person can enjoy it. The dressing is tasty and light. The cappuccino is among the best Iâve ever had⌠Freshly brewed from excellent coffee beans with...
