An Unforgettable Culinary Experience at Canto
Canto is truly one of those rare places where every detail ā from the view to the aroma ā comes together to create something unforgettable.
I started with the Queen Salad, a beautiful mix of apple, fennel, beets, pistachios, and creamy buffalo cheese. Fresh, colorful, and perfectly balanced ā every bite felt like a celebration of flavor.
The risotto was simply outstanding. Creamy, rich, and cooked to absolute perfection ā each spoonful was a little moment of happiness.
For the main course, I had the lamb, which was tender, full of flavor, and wonderfully paired with topinambur and just-right heirloom carrots. The combination was elegant and deeply satisfying.
Everything about this dinner touched all the senses ā the spectacular view, the inviting aromas, and the unforgettable taste.
A special thanks to Chef Francesco Ursini for his spot-on wine recommendation and to the entire kitchen team for their flawless work. You can feel the passion and dedication behind every dish.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been coming here for over 20 years. The best jazz musicians in the country have played here. This is one of the nice Toronto. I noticed that the place was renovated and now has a different name. There was also the grand piano lacking in the room when I asked about what happened to the live music. The server seemed to dodge the question.
There were two gentlemen looking after us in between the two of them they couldnāt seem to get our order straight. I have decided to just tell him Iām not gonna bother anything for the price theyāre charging. Iām expecting a little bit better service. I can at least get the water straight and provide us with the menu which was a challenge for these two gentlemen. There is the dinner menu and a bar menu.
Sad to see iconic Jazz venue disappear just so that they can squeeze in a few extra tables.
I suppose I get that they want to maximize their revenue, especially in this economy, but it is sad to see that live jazz music was ripped out of this place to accommodate that. Live Jazz was a main component...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFor years The Home Smith Bar was our ālocalā. I normally donāt give negative reviews, but I feel obliged to update the information about this venue.
While the listing still gives the impression that there is live music, there is not. Present management abandoned the years long tradition of live music. I donāt know why. A mistake I think. This was one of Torontoās iconic jazz venues. No more.
There is effectively no food. Sad excuses for cheese boards and charcuterie. The pizzas remain a possibility. Gone are steak frites, sweet potato fries and everything else from the old menu.
The wine selection has totally changed but they didnāt change the wine list so you have no clue what will actually arrive. and bottles were arriving already open so any chance to turn them down was eliminated
And lastly we had the worst martinis ever. Mostly ice water. How do you screw up a martini? They managed.
I feel bad writing this, but I have loved the Home Smith for years and itās sad to see it reduced to a mediocre...
