Caribbean Queen — Restaurant in Toronto

Was craving some carribean food. Saw this place in woodbine mall. Thought I would try it. Went up to the counter, reading the menu. The Asian lady behind the counter offered me a taste test of some kind of chicken. It was terrible. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I continued to read the menu as I was craving roti and they offered it. The lady at the counter was very aggressive and would repeatedly ask me what I wanted to order. There was no one else around nor any lineup. I wind up ordering rice and peas with curry chicken. I waited by the counter but she would insist I go sit at a table and wait. I waited off to the side. I thought it was funny that out of the blue, a gentleman approached the counter and began telling the lady behind the counter that their food is great, but he didnt order anything. Maybe he is on their payroll and this is how they intice paying customers to spend. Once the food was done, she opened the box to show me. The rice was red and the chicken was Kung poa chicken. Breaded chicken with some kind of sauce. NO CURRY. She insisted it was curry chicken and rice and peas. I politely requested a refund and she angrily threw the food in the garbage and told me I was not a good person. She refused to give me a refund. The food is no where close to Carribean. It is Chinese food. The food is absolutely disgusting and the service is no better. I asked her for a business card. She refused and said she is giving me nothing. I would not advise anyone to...

I was very pleased with the food and this restaurant being using ONLY Halal meat. Since it was Halal, I was able to give it a shot and try their chicken samples as well. I end up getting fish with fried rice which also had some noodles as well. I would say that it is great fusion that they have created with Caribbean and Chinese food. I must say that the management should be so stingy with giving only 1 packet of sauce. Other than being stingy about giving sauce, I had a good experience. I used to come here a lot as they have relatively big portion and good oxtails. But recently I had a bad experience with their food so I never went back again. The lady and the staffs are very nice but they really need to IMPROVE their food quality and have more authentic taste for Caribbean food as their name would suggest.
