Got an XL Chicken Shawarma Pizza. It's loaded with Meat and Garlic sauce for only $16.50. It's good. I didn't go to the Chitos featured in the BlogTO vids, but this was a nice filling pizza. Chicken was a bit dry, crust a bit doughy and the garlic sauce needs a stonger punch of garlic.
Now time for the comparison. Since I came to this location because if Blog TO I also saw that there is a Bloor & Lansdowne and Dufferin and Wilson location, and naturally wanted to see if both locations are the same/which is better. Determined by 5 categories: Price, pizza dough, chicken shawarma meat, garlic sauce and overall taste.
For Price, the Lansdowne location wins. An XL pizza there is $16.50 after taxes. Each location is allowed to have their own prices and it did not exepect parity. A large at the Dufferin and Wilson location is $19.20.
On Dough, the locations Tie. They are both doughy pizzas that could use some extra time in the oven Dufferin location having the slight edge but now enough to declare them out right winner.
On Chicken Shawarma Meat the Dufferin and Wilson Location wins easily. It was shaved from the spit right in front of me before being placed on my pizza and tastes better than lansdowne location. While I will say Lansdowne loads the pizza with more meat, it tastes greasy and lacks flavour.
On Garlic Sauce the Dufferin and Wilson Chitos takes it as well. It has that nice garlic punch, is a good amount on the pizza, was exactly what I was looking for.
For Overall Taste the Dufferin and Wilson location wins as well. The chicken and Garlic sauce excel this pizza over the one you get at The Lansdowne location. And because of that spending the extra cash for their pizza is better.
Nevertheless both locations are offering a interesting fusion to the pizza game and I will visit both locations when I'm...
Read moreIf you find yourself exploring Bloordale Village in Toronto don't miss this amazing little gem. Chito's Pizza is a narrow storefront a few steps east of Lansdowne Ave., with an order window on the street and almost always a cluster of people waiting to order or pick-up. And there's a reason there's almost always people hanging about: the food - especially their famous shawarma pizza - is soooo good.
In all honesty, while they serve up a number of yummy take-away treats at Chito's, we go almost exclusively to order the shawarma pizza. This is the definition of comfort street food for us.
Order by the slice or by the whole pie, and get lashings of both the garlic and the hot sauce slathered on everything. And a word about the hot sauce: don't let the idea scare you. This isn't eye-watering heat. It's a lovely, slightly sweet heat that doesn't overpower the shawarma chicken and complements the garlic sauce perfectly. It's a must have if you're going to order this pizza (which you really should).
And, here's the cherry on top of this sundae: a generous slice (and by generous we mean you've had lunch after one slice) of the shawarma pizza is an almost unbelievably cheap $3/slice. Yes, you read that right - $3/slice. And the "slice" is actually a quarter of a whole 12" pie. Amazing value for money.
Trust us; if you're in the neighbourhood and have a craving for some delicious shawarma pizza you just have to give Chito's a try. You'll be glad...
Read moreChito’s Pizza was not bad, I’m not really sure what all the hype is about . I’ve tried better …. what I didn’t like was the fact that the pizza was very very thin and flimsy. The Gentleman was very nice enough to add more chicken on top with no extra charge. The sauces were great, many to choose from. I also asked for more slices in my extra large and was given so without hesitation I would recommend you trying them but not as a go to . Another major thing I didn’t like about this pizza was the fact that it was a pizza without the chicken under the cheese. The chicken was added on top I’m used to the chicken being added on before the cheese, It’s delicious but messy be careful how you hold it or all the chicken...
