A rave review for the couple who run the front of house. I'm the worst with names but they are partners - one runs the bar but also comes around to chat and help out. The woman is an absolutely amazing hostess and they both work their butts off. She is knowledgeable but not pushy, social but not annoying. Super friendly and funny, generous with advice (and wine tastings!), and I am just so so pleased with the service here.
Italian food is my staple at home, so I dont usually go for Italian restaurants, but the chef has done a really good job of incorporating French and Canadian cuisine with the flavors and care of a solid Italian meal. We had the arancini, olive pizzette, lamb and swordfish. All delicious and highly recommended. The only room for improvement (although not a complaint and totally forgiveable) is that the fish was a little cold and the walls could use some art to make it cozier. Read moreA charming yet elegant fine dining restaurant in the heart of the beloved Roncescalles neighborhood. I had the pleasure of taking my wife for her birthday dinner here and it definitely delivered. The service was attentive and professional. The food was fantastic. Golden beet salad with goat cheese and tarragon pesto was delightful. The asparagus tart was creamy and fluffy and fabulous. The mushroom gnocchi was pillowy and savoury and definitely had that umami wow factor. The bread pudding for dessert was unnecessary but it was sweet and delicious and was a perfect end to a great dining experience. Full marks! We will definitely be going there again and we will be bringing friends. A lovely new restaurant in a great neighborhood. The menu changes on a monthly basis, and we are making a commitment to go there at least once a month to savour the delectable offerings of the head chef....
Read moreAbsolutely brutal. I went in here for a beer after a bad night. The staff only had 2 of the several beers listed on their menu and served me their IPA with total distain (small can, still $9). I asked for a menu, just to see their offering. I was told that they were “high end” with a crystal clear message between the lines. I can’t remember the last time I had someone look at me like I was complete garbage. If you’re “high end” then stock the beers on your menu. Fancy people drink beer too. When you’re paying for the lights to stay on and staff on the floor with zero people in your establishment then maybe don’t be so totally rude and disrespectful to someone who has owned a business on Roncy, been employed on Roncy, and lived in the neighbourhood for 15yrs. Welcome to the neighbourhood I guess. You’re already making such a...
