Walked by and the sign posted on the sidewalk said 50% off ALL WINGS. Went in and ordered 2lbs. The server said it wouldn't be a problem and that she will ring it in but seemed hesitant. Not wanting to get a surprise bill, I asked her to double check with the kitchen. It turns out they will only honour their own sign IF you order 1lb of wings not ANY or ALL. But wait, if you come on SPECIAL days, when certain cooks are working, you MIGHT actually get what the sign says. I ask the server to go talk to the cook and tell him she already agreed on the 50% off on the 2lbs, she does so and it's still a no. I ask to speak to the cook and he said he's too busy even though I'm the only one in the place. He later comes out of the kitchen as a show of force to chat up an Uber driver and bring him his takeout order while completely ignoring me while I'm sat a few feet away at the bar. The kicker was the server put in the wings order anyway for 1lb because of course she did, none of them speak English and just because you have a major issue with the advertised promo, doesn't mean you shouldn't put it through anyway. Lastly the owner is married and offered to take my female friend home when I couldn't make it. She couldn't be more creeped out. BONUS PIC: Here's what you get when you order a triple smash burger-WONDER BREAD instead of burger buns because they said it wouldn't fit otherwise LMAO. This place is a tragic joke that doesn't belong in the depths of Scarborough, much less anywhere on...
Read moreI really wanted to like this restaurant since it replaced one of my former local favourites, Cafe Tibet (I miss those momos!). We gave Royal BBQ Grill a chance because we love to support all our local businesses. But the experience was just plain disappointing and even a little sad.
The food has no personality whatsoever. Everything feels slapped together, inauthentic and superficial. I strongly recommend that the owners and managers of Royal BBQ Grill visit and study other restaurants in the neighbourhood that really shine where flavour experiences are concerned — e.g. Barque Smokehouse, Pik Thai, Konia, Bacan, Dil Se, Defina.
The service at Royal BBQ Grill is fine, the people are pleasant. The bathrooms are bleak. The music is trapped in an era of the 2000’s that was uneventful for substance. There seems to be a steady stream of food delivery drivers (which is surprising) while the place itself is usually empty whenever we walk by. This was part of the reason we wanted to support. Needless to say, we quickly understood why this place is empty with the first few bites.
My guess is that most of the reviewers here that gave ratings above 3 stars are friends and family trying to show support. But I don’t think they’re doing any favours for unsuspecting customers or...
Read moreI generally don't leave reviews for places I didn't eat at but I feel this one is fitting.
I first came into the restaurant around 5:30 and stood there for approximately 5 minutes and no one came out to greet me but I heard an abundant amount of laughter come from the kitchen.
I tried to find another spot but I wanted to give them another chance. This time I was promptly greeted but was handed a very disheveled and stained menu (Important to note they use paper menus but I was the only guest in the entire restaurant and she chose to give me a nasty menu). I then asked for an iced tea. She returns with a can of Brisk and a glass. Now I have no issue with restaurants who don't provide free refills but I do take issue when you don't inform the customer of this beforehand.
I decided to take my business elsewhere. Overall...
