I am giving 2 stars not because of the baked goods. They are 5 star worthy. The 3 stars is because of the service. Went in today at 12.55 pm and two girls were behind the counter. They were not helping anyone and I received no greetings on entering. I stood in front of the pastries and had to ask someone to help me. The girl took my pastries order and stood beck behind the cash register, when I had moved on to the Cold cuts to make another selection. I had to ask for help again from the cold cuts. I was there with my brother and we are both black in skin color. She took my order for the cold cuts and went back to the register. I was going to order bread but decided not to. She rang up my bill and I paid the $40. She then put the receipt down on the counter. No THANK YOU, NO Nothing, however she left quickly to go help the WHITE Portuguese man who stood in front of the same counter that I had stood in front of and I had to make eye contact to get help but He was helped right away. This is very racist in my opinion. I will post this review to my food blog and it's 5000...
Read moreMy partner and I were wanting some Natas and googled what was around and this place was the first thing that popped up, based on the reviews and pictures we decided to check it out. The place reminds me of some coffee shops in Portugal so that was nostalgic. It has seating and the baked goods looked delicious. We were greeted but we were looking for a menu and couldn't find one, we asked if they had one and they said no. We weren't sure what we could get. We asked what they had and I suppose if you're a local and have been going there for a while you can walk in and just order but for people that don't go often or haven't been before, I think is silly not to have a menu or something showing what you can order. Aside from not having a menu, there is no pricing available. Since when do you go to a place and just pay whatever because that's what it is? We ordered two sandwiches, two Natas and a eclair and it came to $18.30. I paid with a $20 and didn't get a dollar back. The food was Ok. We wouldn't return or...
Read moreThe food and the service is great. However, they don't enforce mask wearing in the bakery. Generally I don't care, but today I was buying some bread and meats, and a man with no mask was standing over my uncovered bread and food, and he was drinking and talking to the employee that was bagging my things. I understand some people don't take the pandemic seriously, and that's fine. But I would appreciate not having a random stranger breathing and talking over my uncovered food, while not wearing a mask. I don't think that's an unreasonable request. Most people wouldn't want a stranger breathing on their food in general, and definitely not during a pandemic. It's a shame because I really like this bakery, but I probably won't be going back here until after the pandemic is over. Let me stress though, the ladies working there are great, and the food is fantastic.I have lung disease which puts me at higher risk of covid, so its just not worth...
