So sad to see this place go down in quality. Did the owner change or what? Have been coming here consistently before, during and post COVID. It felt like just recently after they were closed for the month of September and we finally got out sugar water fix and it was pure disappointment.
Surprisingly the staff actually spoke Cantonese but started off with Mandarin but agree that's hard to decipher via first glance.
Getting to the disappointment - ordered the ginger milk, double skin milk, and and here's what came out:
Tea - nice to have but why is it like warm? Like it was cooler than the hot sugar water.
Double Skin milk - this was ordered as a hot dish but again came out just warmer than the tea itself. Flavour still there I think..
Ginger Milk - perfect, still got the ginger spiciness and was actually got. Enough you would spit it out if you took too big of a spoon
peanut sticky rice balls in ginger syrup - similar to issue another had posted below, this was the last straw. The shell was more than 75% of the total item. I could not believe how thick the sticky rice part was and there was minimal filling. Just refer to the photo... if you know how to make these you know what the ratio of filling to skin should be AND exactly as another reviewer stated, I get better options from the freezer aisle in a grocery store.
I'm going to have to find a new place now.. can't come back unless they fix their recipe back to...
Read moreThis dessert shop is renowned for its popularity, often drawing long queues of eager patrons. Despite the wait, the experience is well worth it. One particular gem on their menu that I highly recommend is the ginger milk custard—a delectable treat that blends the subtle warmth of ginger with the creamy richness of milk, creating a harmonious and unforgettable flavor.
What sets this place apart is not just the exceptional desserts but also the excellent service. Despite the constant influx of customers and the long queues, the staff remains courteous, attentive, and efficient. I appreciated that they never made us feel rushed, even during peak hours when the shop was bustling with activity. It's evident that they prioritize the quality of service and the satisfaction of their customers.
Moreover, I was pleasantly surprised that despite the crowds, we didn't have to wait excessively long to be seated or to receive our orders. The efficient organization and seamless flow of operations ensured a smooth dining experience, allowing us to indulge in our desserts without undue delays.
Overall, I highly recommend this dessert shop not only for its delectable offerings, such as the ginger milk custard, but also for its exceptional service and well-managed operations. It's a place where you can enjoy delicious desserts in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, without feeling hurried or inconvenienced...
Read moreI'm not usually into sweets or Chinese desserts, but visiting Double Ming Chinese Dessert was a lovely surprise. The place had a classic Chinese look, decorated with various art pieces. The tables were circular stone tables with wooden frames, paired with matching stools. There were no regular chairs, so I had to keep my jacket on an adjacent stool, which, thankfully, remained in place throughout my visit. Here's what I tried: Steamed Egg White with Milk: This dish was like a hot, soft milk jello in a bowl, with a texture resembling that of silken tofu. It was a straightforward, comforting dessert with a gentle sweetness, perfect for soothing the stomach. Assorted Fresh Fruit with Fresh Coconut and Milk: It was seasonal fruits cut into bite-sized pieces in a bowl of light coconut milk. Simple and satisfying, it was sweet enough to enjoy without being overbearing. The menu had so many items without detailed descriptions or photos for new visitors, which I found inconvenient. However, I thought many items offered good value, and I had a good time. I’d like the return again for some more...
