No clue how and why this place has so many positive reviews. Very misleading. I had an experience here once, based on the great reviews on Google, and it will absolutely be the LAST TIME.
An absolute waste of money, guys. PLEASE AVOID. The pricing is very high; maybe you should visit Haidilao instead for a proper hotpot experience. Trust me on this!!! They will also ENFORCE TIPS on you, with an amount that satisfies them, but they won’t mention this beforehand. If you agree to pay the bill in cash but run out of cash for a better tip, trust me, they will not let you go unless one of you brings out a debit card.
Now to the food: the broth, aka the most important factor of an all-you-can-eat hotpot place, was absolutely BLAND. Like zero taste. I could not believe it. I have never been to a hotpot place that basically serves you boiling water with some slices of tomato and a lot of oil in it. Last but not least, the highlight of the menu - Crabs and Lobsters - such a luxurious item in their buffet menu! Almost too good to be true! Yup, the quality was so cheap that the crabs had black holes on their claws and definitely did not taste fresh at all. It was just as tasteless as the hotpot broth. You simply could not get any of the seafood sweetness in any of the pieces! It doesn’t matter how much seafood you add to the hotpot, your broth/soup will not get any sweeter, as it should if you cook broth with fresh seafood. Also, you’re supposed to eat the lobsters and crabs with your own hands and teeth, as you will not be provided with proper crab-eating tools.
In short, I gave it a try and left with great disappointment. DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE. NOT WORTH IT. There are many other places that charge you the same price but offer much better quality. Oh and apparantly it has cockroaches crawling around at...
Read moreChengdu Spicy Chinese Cuisine was okay. Given the area and the number of amazing restaurants in the vicinity, I probably would not come here again. I can see how some people would be big fans (if you like more specialty Chinese dishes like frog legs, chicken heart, gizzard, etc), but as someone who isn't too adventurous I don't think it's necessary to come here. The primary reason we came was because they have all you can eat crab and lobster, which is pretty unheard of for other AYCE places. However, it was pretty difficult to get meat out of most of the pieces, although they did regularly refill the dishes despite each person basically loading up half their trays with seafood.
One thing I did not like was their soup base. For $20 (split pot), this is more expensive than other, more luxurious hot pot places. And there was nothing special about the base taste. The meal itself was only $30 per person, which is a good AYCE price. However when paired with the soup base, and with tax and tip, we paid $105 for two people which is higher than other places.
The section where you help yourself to the buffet ingredients is also very tight and poorly set up. You are basically back to back with other customers the whole time. It does become a bit of a pushing match depending who else is getting food at the same time as you.
I will not be back but this restaurant is very busy so I'm sure they won't miss my business. Come early (around 6) if you don't want to wait - although the wait did not seem long. 2 free pops if you pay with cash but that didn't seem like a good enough incentive for me to...
Read moreCame here for late night hotpot. Got in a bit before 11, left at 2. We were hoping to find some night owl deals, but that didn't happen. This place was charging 30 per person plus $20 for shared soup. Paid about $45 after tax and 10% tip.
This place does a lot of skewers. One ingredient per skewer, so one mushroom, one shrimp, one dumpling, etc.
There was also crab legs and lobsters available, which means ayce crab and lobster. Surprising, but probably low quality as the meat was quite rubbery. Either that or I don't know how long to cook them.
There's only one platter of fresh beef sllces, but an entire section of seasoned meat. Personally I prefer plain old meat, as it tastes a lot better and I can somewhat tell that it isn't days old meat with its colour glossed over with marinade, so this was a bit unfortunate.
For prepared food, they had a box of takoyaki. Pretty nice. They also had unlimited cherries and watermelon. Given the price of cherries, I think it's pretty good value.
One thing that was pretty annoying was the water dripping from the pipes overhead. Every minute or so, there's water drops hitting the seats or table. The staff said it was just condensation and all the tables along the pipes were the same. The cleanliness of the pipes is questionable.
Liu Yi Shou in the other plaza offered $40 late night ayce including soup and all you can drink from 11 to 2. Would've paid more but might have...
