East York Deli — Restaurant in Toronto

As far as neighbourhood gems go, this is top of the list. East York Deli serves up the low-key best type of deli experience: the vibe is no-frills, the people are chatty and welcoming, the menu stretches for days, the prices are old-time reasonable, and the sandwiches are simply amazing.

Stopped by a got: Roast Beef Melt Sandwich: Wow this was amazing. From the tender beef with a salty-tangy taste, to the piping hot cheese bread, and everything in between, this was deli sandwich perfection. Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich: Great smoked meat, but was also vibrantly refreshing with all the veggies in it. Fries: Crisped to perfection without being greasy or overly salty.

Mainly a takeout spot but there are a couple of tables to dine-in. So many options - from deli sandwiches to burgers to pizza and pasta - that you'll never run out of things to try. I can see why this has been an enduring staple in the community as it truly is the best type of...

I recently had the most amazing experience with East York Deli. I used them for catering a very important event where I had 100 guests in attendance.

Everything was super simple and stress free, from ordering, payment and menu planning they offered suggestions altering my original order to one which would better suit my needs (smaller platters for things like fruit, and removal of an entire platter to offset any leftover / waste and set up suggestions to help prevent bottle-necking).

The food was beyond amazing, everything was fresh and delicious. The sandwich patters were phenomenal, the pesto pasta salad perfect and the selection of cheeses and crackers and veggies trays were top notch.

The price point was super amazing as well, it didn't blow the budget.

Everyone at the event returned to the buffet tables multiple times.

Super cute exterior, I saw so many good reviews on this place and so I was curious to try for myself! My partner and I ordered the monster burger, onion rings and souvlaki chicken skewer. The burger was pretty decent and big - it is a double patty! I was most impressed with the souvlaki skewer (no pocs unfortunately), it was so so juicy and flavourful, it came with some pita on the side and the tzatziki sauce was so delicious! I wish I got more of it. The onion rings were good but a lil salty. It took a bit of time to come out but there was only one person working so it’s ok. I’ll definitely want to come back and try other items on the menu and get more of the souvlaki...
