I just had a very unsettling and disheartening experience at Lickadee Split and felt compelled to share my experience. I took my daughter for an ice cream treat after school today, and we spent 5-10 minutes looking at the flavors before deciding what to get. During this time, we spoke back and forth, and I addressed my daughter by her nickname as I asked her what she wanted. There was a middle-aged woman behind the counter, she waited on my order without difficulty but seemed rather cold towards my daughter (even though my daughter's order was easier). When it came time to pay, she questioned who should be paying and emphasized that my daughter should be paying for me (no joking). I said my daughters 13, too young for a job. When I said my daughter, her facial expression looked taken aback, and she recoiled. She then continued to insist my daughter could pay and was not warm. This was such a troubling experience for me, I am white. My children are biracial. There was no reason for her to be unpleasant other than she must have an issue with racism. My daughter was very polite and well-mannered throughout the time that we were there. I feel really sad to experience this with my daughter. I hope this worker will learn the consequences of her behavior because it affects the profits and reputation of the business. I will never...
Read moreAmazing summertime this year, with an average of an ice cream eaten every two days. Lickadee Split only opens during summer and they have great flavours that puts you in the state of mind of proalisis through analysis... Too many flavours. If it's your first time, pick the flavours which Platinum is indicated on the side, it's creamier and richer with better ingrediants. Either way, feel adventurous and try en all. Afterall summer is still going strong. Flavours changes sometimes, but the classic and popular ones remains. A favourite with family and children living around this neighbourhood. And with a school nearby, if school was still on (cause of Covid), I'm sure there will be lots of students strolling here to grand themselves a treat. My favourite favour so far is the Raspberry chocolate swirl. Cone or cup, it also available in different sizes. I'm so glad this place is still...
Read moreIce cream was very run of the mill, similar to store bought Parlour or other mid range brands. The texture was very airy and the flavour was completely non-distinct. Of the two flavours in the cone, one was very soft and the other was not soft, the soft one was not enjoyable at all. It melted all over the cone and my hand. Obviously, the freezing unit they kept it in wasn’t holding temperature. The size of the single cone was fairly big but at a price of almost 10.00, the value really wasn’t there. Far too expensive, and for all these reasons I will not be going back. I’m really baffled at the high ratings they have received. Though, the service was good and the place has a nice quaint feel to it. I truly wish it...
