Delicious food, pleasant staff, great prices, calm and inviting atmosthere, great location and hours. Definately going back! We discovered Yaya's last night while looking for a quiet local cafe to hang out and catch up. It's such a nice little cafe! Really relaxing atmosphere. Dimmed lighting in the dinning area, which to us is very important because we have a sensitity to bright fluorescent lights. We sat there for a couple hours, catching up and eating Loukoumades. We ordered 2 portions of 10 Loukoumades one called "Cake my day" the other "Nuts about Balls" for a grand total of $18. Both kinds were absolutely delicious and were made to order, fresh, from scratch I saw the girl pouring batter into the deep fryer after taking our order. We had a pleasant chat with the owner too and she even gave us some bonus cheese pie to try since it was our first time there. We will definatelly be coming back many times in the future. It's so hard to find a quiet cafe with dim lights that are open till at least 9pm on a Friday night without going downtown. The ONLY THING I wish was different were the chairs. We are both plus sized and found the chairs to be a bit too tight (we could still sit, but only on the front half of the chair seat).😅 Otherwise this place is...
Read moreI have been here sooo many times now that they have my phone number saved at this point! The first time I tried their loukomades, it was for a family friend’s housewarming and everyone instantly became a fan. Everyone was reaching out for them even though we had other desserts. Since then, I have brought these to every gathering I go and their loukomades have never failed me. Paraskeve and Clinton are gem of a person. Whenever I go there, I see familiar faces( their regulars have become my regulars😅) which also tells me about the community they have built. They take their time to explain the flavour profiles and how to pair them up( ask for hidden menu flavour that are not on the board. My favourites are Nutella pistachio and butter believe it). They also have other Greek desserts, coffee, shakes and ice cream. Just placed a big order with them and excited for my friends and colleagues to try it. P.S- If you are ordering on weekend, order in advance as they...
Read moreWho knew one of the best loukoumades spots in the city wasn't in Greektown? Yaya's definitely does every grandmother proud with these delightful dough balls.
Stopped by the cafe and tried: Loukoumades: Easily some of the best in the city. They were fried perfectly, not overly oily while maintaining a soft and bouncy interior. The Greek Hero had that classic honey glaze which made the quality of the loukoumades shine through, while the Choco Swirl went over-the-top with its generous drizzlling of chocolate. Freddo Espresso: Strong iced coffee, which was a good counter to this sweet tooth heaven.
Place is small but well decorated. Prices are reasonable. People there create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend Yaya for a topnotch...
