The first time we visited (a few years ago) was on a Mother's day, just my husband and I without our kids as we already had plans for dinner in the evening with our whole family. The restaurant was bustling, friendly, and we enjoyed our food with no issues. Towards the end of our meal, someone was going around, handing out carnation flowers to women who had their children with them, greeting them a happy Mother's day. They passed my husband and I (obviously because my 3 kids were not with us) and went to the table beside ours to continue handing out Mother's day greetings and flowers. A little part of me internalized this and started a discussion with my husband. I said, what if someone just recently had a miscarriage, or was trying for a baby with no luck or was a fur baby mom? They don't get a flower? He understood my sentiment. As we went to pay for our food and leave, I brought it up to the staff behind the counter. They apologized and tried to hand me a flower. I said it's ok, I don't want a flower, but just be considerate. If you're handing flowers out, maybe hand one out to all the women in the restaurant, so not to let anyone feel left out or slighted.
Well today we returned to give the place another chance and we are happy we did. Maria, the main floor manager (who I can only assume is the manager - if she isn't, she should be) was attentive to everyone around us, including my husband, son and I. She was friendly, knew customers by name and their usual orders, made sure we had everything we needed; just such a seasoned customer service expert without being invasive. So considerate, kind and thoughtful. As we were wrapping up our bill, she asked if I wanted a coffee to go, and this was the proverbial cherry on top. There is absolutely no way she would have known that I usually take a coffee to go after my meal. I was actually regretting missing my window to request one, when as if she read my mind she so happened to ask. My husband and I were blown away. So because of Maria, we will absolutely return. The food...
Read moreMy partner and I visited this location today. While the service didn’t really hit home, the food did. We shared a skillet and a waffle - pretty filling and delicious.
I would have hoped for the skillet to be a little larger in terms of the overall portion, and the homestyle potatoes to be mashed up inside the skillet, which is kind of how a lot of breakfast diners serve a skillet.
The service unfortunately fell a little short. Ordered a glass of water, never showed up. The food was quick, but the server seemed disinterested to serve us. Almost felt rushed. Seems that it was the owner and she was understaffed and wasn’t able to fully justify her service, since she was dealing with anyone that was coming in. We had to get up to ask for the bill at the end of our visit.
Overall, we’d love to go back to another location because the food slaps. But the service can be much improved or just staffed better. Not saying last minute emergencies don’t happen with staffing, but better arrangements...
