This place would do so much better if they decided if they were a gaming place with table service, or a gaming place with counter service. Table service would be better and with only 11-12 tables they have it would be easy to accommodate. The problem is you order something from them and they take 20+ minutes for it to arrive and then no one ever comes and checks on your table afterwards. I went with a bunch of women who were wanting to spend a lot of money on alcohol and food but it took so long to get anything that many of us just got their free water after a couple rounds of drinks, that we had to remind staff about. Yesterday, I went with another mom friend and our two kiddos and if someone had come to our table after our initial order, we would have ordered more food and drinks. There was 4-5 staff on and the food is not fresh handmade (although still delicious) but the food we did order took forever to come and no one returned to our table to follow up, so another missed opportunity for the place to make more money off customers. âDo you want to order some popcorn for the table?â âDid you want more milkshakes or something else to drink like chocolate milk or juice?â Table sales for food and drink can bring in a lot of money.
Also, they had no cash change. I had $50 cash I wanted to spend on boardgames to bring home but they had no change so I kept my $50.
They also have numerous special nights like student night, magic night, etc. but no sandwich board out front advertising and no take home pamphlets.
This place would make so much more money if they did these little tweaks. Efficient, and returning table service, faster kitchen turnaround, change on hand, and a sandwich board out front for advertising specials.
Also, upon coming home I realized they forgot to charge me for one milkshake and food item. Another reason proper wait staff and order taking is essential to keep a business a float.
They should lower the cost of playing the games to $5, do toonie tuesdays, families free on Sundays, student 50% discount Thursdayâs, and a sandwich board with updated promos daily out front, with take away pamphlets at counter listing these.
These tweaks would add a...
Read moreâ If you havenât been to this hidden gem of a game lounge, youâre truly missing out! đ˛â¨ This place is an absolute treasure, and Laurie and John, the wonderful owners, make the experience even better. Theyâre incredibly welcoming, taking the time to interact with customers, offer game recommendations, and ensure everyone is having a great time. đ
đš We kicked things off with a Turtles milkshake and a caramel latteâboth were delicious, but the milkshake was an absolute winner! đĽ¤đ¤Š Then, we dove into a variety of games, starting with the classic Battleship đ˘ and moving on to Pentago, Quoridor, Zensu, and finally, Codenames. đ Time flew by, and before we knew it, we had spent a fun-filled four hours enjoying their vast collection of gamesâall for an incredibly reasonable flat fee of just $6 per person! đ°đ
đĽ The food was another highlightâthe dumplings were absolutely delicious! đ¤¤đ And to top it all off, their adorable shop dog đś made the experience even more special. He happily roams around, collecting pets as his "commission" for running such a wonderful businessâtruly the cutest and most well-behaved little pup around! đĽ°đ If you're lucky, you might even get a few affectionate licks and a warm greeting from him. đ
â¤ď¸ Beyond the games, food, and friendly atmosphere, what truly makes this place stand out is its heartwarming origin story. You can tell Laurie and John built this space with love and a genuine passion for bringing people together. đ Supporting local businesses like this is so important, and we canât wait to come back...
Read moreThis past summer, my daughter attended two Funny Bones enrichment camps and LOVED it! So much so, that when her birthday party had been âcanceledâ due to Covid, we made a point to have a play date party once things opened back up in the fall - Funny Bones was her first choice to host a belated celebration! Laurie helped plan a Dungeons and Dragons event that included menu options and great loot bags for the kids. When restrictions came into play again just before the big day, Laurie helped facilitate moving the party to my home, catering and all. It was a blast â Iâm not sure how the Games Master managed to keep five kids around a table for two hours, but he did. The gameplay was imaginative and engaging, and the food kid friendly and delicious! I highly recommend Funny Bones for a great resolve to the guilt parents feel about their kidsâ screen time â weâll definitely be stopping by over the holiday break to rent games and puzzles to support this gem of a...
