Captain’s Fried Chicken — Restaurant in Toronto

Came here on October 18, 2024. I am always on the hunt for a good fried chicken. I saw Captain last week and figured I would try it this week.

I got 4-piece Super Tenders and my friend got 3-piece chicken with wedges.

The Good: Fresh and Pretty Fast! Everything seems to be made in fresh. From my previous experience with fried chicken places that only do it fresh, they usually take a long time to prepare. I would say we only wait for about 10 mins.

Tenders are very tender ! I definitely prefer tenders over their bone-in chicken.

Big portion. The 3pc chicken with wedges have so many wedges. ——

Things to Improve: More seasoning. I understand they focus on the dipping sauce but I prefer chicken to have more seasoning. Definitely include some spicy seasoning. Dave’s Hot Chicken is full of flavor and spicy. More seasoning on potato wedges too

Spicy or Smokey seasoning on the Tenders would be so cool imo.

I ordered through the Uber eats app tonight for pick up. My order was a bogo and since I've ordered from this restaurant before, I knew exactly what I wanted and chose the repeat option. When I went to get my order it clearly glitched on their end resulting in me not getting the bogo deal and instead of rectifying the issue, the attendant decided to argue and tried to talk down to me. Her words were nothing short of condescending as if I was stupid/ignorant to how uber eats works.

To make matters worse. A customer of similar background as her obviously commented on what was going on in their language and she responded to him in their language mentioning BoGo and her, her coworker and the customer of similar background as them broke out in hysterical laughter right infront of me.

This experience has left a sour taste in my mouth and I will never patronize this restaurant ever again and will be sure to let others know to stear clear...

I’ve gotten takeout from this place a couple of times since they opened. The stinging bites are really good taste in the sauce as well as the plain tenders. However, I don’t intend to order 3 or 4 tenders with one small plastic container of ranch sauce which I love with my tenders. Adding a $1 charge for an additional tiny ranch container which should be no more than 50 cents for that size. To finish three tenders with adequate sauce it requires AT LEAST 3 of those small containers and that’s me being modest. Same goes for the wings I tried are good but come with small containers of each respective flavour you choose. The staff was nice enough to make an exception and toss them in the stinging sauce but these things should be standard options, doesn’t feel good to beg for accommodation.
