I’ve long wanted to visit this store, so highly praised by Ukrainians. Unfortunately, the only positive impression was left by the bread. Staff and Communication: The store was severely understaffed on December 30th, with only three employees for the entire space. All of them seemed to be in a bad mood, and one of them responded so rudely that it made me want to leave immediately. Price tags were inconvenient or missing, so I had to ask about prices. To my question, I received a curt “I don’t know!” 🤷🏼♀️ followed, after a pause, by a more polite explanation: “The bread is sold by weight, you’ll find out the price at the register.” This experience killed any desire to purchase anything else. If management is reading this, imagine how many customers you’re losing because of such interactions. Selection and Accessibility: The store is huge, but the selection is quite small. There is no self-service access to the dairy section. I waited for someone to assist me but gave up. If you’re still interested in retaining loyal customers, please address this. A customer’s basket could easily be 4x larger if you improved both service and product variety. Product Quality:
• The pickled cucumbers ended up in the trash—they were as soft as cotton. • The chicken Kyiv cutlet had clearly been thawed and refrozen multiple times, tasting like something from 2019. It, too, went straight into the bin. My New Year’s table was ruined. • Baked goods: This is the store’s strong point. The bread is excellent—unmatched in Toronto! But! The selection is minimal, shelves were empty, and the poor service made me lose interest in trying or asking about anything else.
Checkout Experience: Despite a long queue, not a single register was open. It’s astonishing that people were there ready to spend money yet stood waiting in silence until someone decided to show up. When two cashiers finally appeared, they got into a verbal argument right in front of everyone. I had to ask them to hurry up because I didn’t want to stand there listening to that nonsense while paying for my purchases.
This was a 100% disappointment. I truly hope this message reaches someone who cares about the store’s reputation and that we’ll see positive changes...
Read moreI recently had the displeasure of shopping at the Future Bakery outlet in Etobicoke. I had been there before and the experience was quite pleasant. This time around? The complete opposite. First and foremost, I was served both at the hot table and the bakery section by a young, blonde employee whose name I did not catch. To say that she was miserable would be an understatement. She scowled at me from the get go...was gruff and rude in her interactions with me...and left me with the impression that she was displeased that I could not communicate with her in her native language (i.e. she kept asking me to repeat myself). Nasty person. Then, when I went to check out the refrigerator section where they had prepared salads, literally every single item on the shelves was past its expiry date. When I brought the food home, I was equally as unimpressed with the both the taste and the quality. Had the food been the only disappointment, I wouldn't be posting this review. But this one employee was so disagreeable that she poisoned the entire experience. Clearly, she doesn't understand the term "customer service" and I would argue that her "Future" does not belong at...
Read moreOh my! What an amazing Bakery with so much variety! There are a lot of hot foods Dairy items Karma baked goods and pastries, and cold cake Etc. I had the opportunity to try their barley cabbage roll and fried cheese and dill savoury pastry. Both we're good although a bit Bland. I also had the chance to try their fried sweet cheese dumpling - that was quite nice warmed up, a bit like deep-fried cheesecake. Their almond croissant was surprisingly delicious and packed with almond filling especially given the cheap price. The pistachio croissant was also quite good, although I personally found the filling between the pastry layers to be a bit lacking. Their traditional ukrainian cheese cookie was dissapointing and doughy...as was their pistachio baklava which was soggy sickeningly sweet and lacked much nuts. Their regula cheesecake was delicious esp for the price and not too sweet. I lovvvved their ukrainian walnut cake - sort of like IKEA's almond cake but with many thin layers of cake and pastry cream - definitely something id visit for...
