We know this small restaurant from Toronto Stars as it is already a 58-years old store. It is located in the old east downtown district and can be reached by taking TTC streetcar 501/504/505. We like the “old” and moody feels of the store, like in an old movie! Menu is simple and food very cheap. Club House only $2.95, it has chicken, bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, bread nicely browned ….. Very cheap price for good food! Highly Recommend! Hamburger is freshly made too, hot and juicy only $1.75! Truly attractive price! This is a nice little place!

Really old place run by a lovely elderly lady who's very kind and personable. Looks quite run-down inside but that's part of the experience in my opinion. Very no frills spot with nothing "fancy" about it, but I enjoyed the old-school diner feel. I realise it's not for everyone, but the food is simple and delicious. Really really cheap pricing & cash-only. $1 tea, $2.75 club sandwich and $3.50 for fries & a western omelette - I don't know any other spots so ridiculously affordable! Will definitely going back when I'm next in the area.

Great place to eat! The food was super cheap and very yummy. If you want that classic sandwich your mom or grandma would make you for lunch then this is the place to go. Don't let the super cheap prices scare you because the food is great. It's not trying to be anything fancy, its just 2 pieces of bread with classic sandwich toppings and non-processed meats. The interior is quite small only 3 booths and a few bar stools but is great for a quick stop. CASH ONLY, but if you don't have cash there are some ATM's nearby.

5/5 Stars - A Legendary Snack Bar Experience! I just devoured the most iconic snack bar feast at Gales Snack Bar in Toronto, and I'm still reeling from the flavor explosion! This hidden gem has earned a permanent spot on my Toronto food bucket list.

The Main Event: Chicken Club House Sandwich: Juicy, crispy, and indulgent. The perfectly toasted bun held together a symphony of flavors - tender chicken, crispy bacon, creamy mayo, and crunchy lettuce. Cheese Hamburger: A classic done right! The patty was cooked to perfection, with a beautiful sear and a generous slice of melted cheese. Each bite was a masterclass in simplicity. Fries: Crunchy, golden, and addictive. I couldn't get enough of that salty goodness.

The Undercard: Chicken Salad Sandwich: A refreshing surprise! The chicken was tender and mixed with just the right amount of herbs and spices, all on soft, fresh bread.

The Showstopper: Milkshake: Thick, creamy, and utterly decadent. I opted for classic vanilla, and it paired perfectly with the savory goodness that came before.

The Verdict: Gales Snack Bar is a Toronto institution for a reason. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the quality is top-notch. Whether you're a local or just visiting, do yourself a favor and stop by for a truly unforgettable snack bar experience.

Will I Be Back? Absolutely, and with friends in tow! Get ready, Gales - I'll be back for another round (or three) of that incredible Chicken Club House Sandwich.

When you factor in price, this place and this woman are priceless. The Western sandwich is basically a perfect omelet made with finely-chopped veggies and some toast, for A DOLLAR SEVENTY-FIVE. Her Club sandwich seems very popular, packed with chicken and bacon - I mean its ingredients aren't all top-notch but it's TWO NINETY-FIVE. A burger and fries will set you back four bucks - they come piping hot and are solid. The battered fish had a strange flavour in there - the three pieces looked plump and yummy but the batter was thick, encasing not very much fish. Her hamburger plate apparently comes with gravy, will report back on that, and the cold sandwiches. I am deeply nostalgic for these prices and the untouched space, which could be existing in the '40s. The food is ample and nutritious; the philosophy seems to be simple, hearty and cheap enough for...

Knowing this is a mom and pop shop, the expectation should be delicious food.

There was no disappointment here.

The office is 2 blocks away and I plan to come by more often.

I've ordered a fish and chips as this is my first time here. The order was great as the batter was crispy and the fish was thick and no dry. It was very juicy still upon cutting it open.

The owners are hard working people and I was lucky to find a time around noon such that there were no lineups. I heard the place can get really busy so I recommend calling before going .

I'd love to try other items on the menus and the prices have changed from photos online . Regardless, no complaints because the quality exceeds the price charged.. I was more than happy to provide a very...
