We stumbled upon Slowhand Pizza somewhat by chance. We were initially headed to Descendant Pizza, but the line was out the door and the wait was far too long. Not wanting to give up on having a good pizza night, we remembered that a friend had recommended Slowhand Pizza on Queen Street. So we decided to give it a try, and we are incredibly glad we did.
From the moment we walked in, we could tell this place had a great vibe. The interior is warm and inviting, with a kind of laid-back, rustic charm that makes you want to linger a little longer. You can see the care that goes into everything they do, from the simple but well-curated decor to the way the staff greet you with genuine hospitality.
We ordered the Fungusanongus pizza, and it was absolutely outstanding. The crust was perfection, crisp on the outside, yet airy and chewy on the inside, with a beautiful wood-fired finish that added just the right hint of smokiness. The toppings were incredibly well balanced. A medley of mushrooms brought deep earthy flavors, paired beautifully with creamy cheese and what seemed like a drizzle of truffle oil or something similarly fragrant. Every bite was full of layered flavor and texture, yet it never felt too heavy or greasy. It was the kind of pizza that makes you pause after the first bite and just appreciate how good it really is.
What stood out the most was the clear attention to detail and quality. This is not your typical pizza joint. It is obvious that the team at Slowhand is passionate about what they are doing. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were thoughtful, and the execution was spot on.
By the end of the meal, we actually felt lucky that Descendant had been full. It led us to discover a new favorite spot that we may not have otherwise tried. If you are looking for delicious, well-crafted pizza in Toronto, Slowhand Pizza is an absolute gem. We will definitely be returning, and next time, we will be bringing friends so they can...

You know I love pizza, and have high expectations when it comes to the next best pie spot. Without a doubt, this is a slice of heaven.
All their pizzas are deep dish. The dough is soft but filling. Don't be fooled by the size of their pizzas, two slices in, you'll feel plenty full and satisfied.
Their garlic sauce is definitely made in-house and was real good. The bottled cane sugar coke was the best drink to wash it all down : )
First time recommendations:
DOUBLE TROUBLE. 5/5 (add their hot honey sauce for a kick)
Sourdough crust, Stanislaus tomato sauce, house cheese blend, and double Ezzo pepperoni. Finished with oregano and fresh basil.
$21.00
PETER PIPER 5/5
My wife loved it. For me, the ricotta dollop were a bit too bland and watery, but if your a fan of ricotta, then you'll love it.
Sourdough crust, Stanislaus tomato sauce, house cheese blend, Ezzo pepperoni, and pickled jalapeño peppers. Finished with whipped ricotta dollops, oregano, and a hot honey drizzle.
Peter Piper $21.00
They have washrooms, minimal indoor seats and plenty patio seating available. People eat quick but mostly they do take out.
The sauce and peperoni is just next level good. I will definitely be back and recommend this...
Read moreWhat used to be a secret is not anymore (at least, once they get their restaurant signage updated). Slowhand Pizza went from pandemic pop-up to now taking over an old burger joint on Queen and Pape. Heard a lot of buzz about this pizza during the pandemic, but they kept selling out so was never able to try. So it was a happy coincidence that I was walking by their new location one day, saw loads of pizza boxes flying out from a burger place, and after a quick Google search, found out it was Slowhand.
They have a staple number of pizzas (veggie and meat varieties) and a rotating weekly special. We decided to go with the Mushaboom (mushrooms, pepperoni, cheese). At $18 for a 9x7 inch pizza, it's a bit pricey. But it's good for 2 if you're not that hungry, and they're generous with their toppings (the cheese blend was stretching out as we got each slice). And of course, the "star" of the pizza is the sourdough crust - soft, chewy, springy, a real delight.
People there are friendly, pizza is quick (though was there around 2pm so not sure if it was timing), and there are a bunch of picnic benches outside just raring for the summer. If you missed out on the Slowhand hype or just want a good old sourdough pizza, stop by and...
