We go in to the Leslieville location all the time. I also visit the new location on King on the weekend sometimes, too. What I noticed is that the staff at the King location are so friendly and some of the staff at the Leslieville location aren’t very friendly. We buy coffee, pasties and even get our beans from Leslieville every two weeks, so we spend a good amount of money there. The coffee is good - I give you that. This morning though I went to Leslieville, and had a lovely conversation with the cashier (as I said SOME staff). I did initially say I wanted one drink and quickly corrected myself to get another and then specified I wanted oat milk in the new drink. I could have confused the cashier here and I own that. When I got the drink it didn’t have any and a splash on top is totally fine with me, so it was no big deal. I normally wouldn't make a fuss about a mix up. But it was the barista's attitude that rubbed me the wrong way. I asked about the oat milk and instead of being like "Oh sorry about that" she says "Next time ask for it in the beginning." I felt sorta called out because I HAD asked for it in the beginning when I corrected my order. I was given oat milk to put on top which is fine and I played it cool. But i left upset because I felt like I had to defend myself. I worked in the service industry for a decade and also as a barista having the same thing happen to me with a customer and I would never treat someone the way I got treated I would have been way more polite. Lucky that the area has a lot of other places I could go where their staff treats me well, so I'll be buying elsewhere...

I’m not a coffee drinker but I love hot chocolate & I’m always on the hunt for places that don’t use powder full of sugar & preservatives. Mercury makes their own hot chocolate mix in house made from real chocolate! The barista showed me the container and explained the process they take to make it. Well, it was lovely! I went back the next day & had another. Milk is never hot enough for me so I always get it extra hot. A little sprinkle of cinnamon on the top & extra yum! My friend got a flat white & said it was great so to us this place is a win for coffee drinkers & definitely a win for hot chocolate lovers!

I also tried a cheese croissant which I had later in the day and it was delicious. Flaky on the outside soft on the inside. Next time I’ll try their chocolate one!

  • came on to update my service rating. I took away a couple stars because I went back with my small dog (6 pounds) and I barely got in the door before the barista shouted at me “dogs are not allowed in here”. No question as to whether he was a service dog, no gentle hello sorry but dogs aren’t welcome here… they were just so rude and frankly it was super embarrassing. I loved this place but was so disappointed in how rude I was treated. My dog is actually an esa however despite that I have no problem not bringing him in somewhere he is not welcome. I could have missed the sign on the door but even still, there are many ways to tell someone their dog is not allowed other than being...

on Wednesday Nov 28th around 6:15pm I went to the store to purchase a bag of espresso beans from George Howel one of the best rosters! Jess was on duty that night, she seemed very moody and came across very RUDE! Jess was talking to me as if I had no idea what I was talking about, the store was out off my favourite beans so I stood there trying to decide which one I wanted to purchase. I then asked for an Americano and a bag of beans. while waiting for her to make my drink another customer, who I guess was already in the store came up to the counter to order a double shot of espresso in her drink. As Jess started to pull the shot I said to her, my drink is to go, and her response was I know! in a very rude manner. Her service was very poor and RUDE!! I could off gone to NEO BAR, THE LIBRARY OR ROSTER COFFEE for the beans, but I choose Mercury instead. so sad. My husband worked with George Howell for a couple times so I would really like Jess to know, I know what I was...

Tried the spanish latte and it was delicious! The cafe is very small, not much seating inside. There is a corner area that could seat 2 with one table; bar area thar has one stool and then a bench area with one table… the bench could prob fit 4-5ppl. I didnt see prices for their pastries, but there were also a very small selection when i got there. Quaint little coffee shop that is otherwise hidden, def worth a stop, but maybe grab and go.

Coffee tasted OK but what really made me upset is the amount of coffee they actually gave me. I've never been more upset about a purchase. A hot coffee was 4$ for a medium with ice. I decided to try the cold brew for 5$. Why they think my cold brew needs an entire cup of ice is beyond me. I basically got maybe 100ml of cold brew for 5$. I've added before and after pictures to show just how ridiculous it is.
