Golden House Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Toronto

After years of ordering food from Golden House I had to write a review as their quality has definitely dropped. The last 3 times we ordered we were disappointed in one thing or another but gave them the benefit of the doubt. This last time we ordered 2 orders of Yangs fried rice, Cantonese chow mien, lemon chicken, beef and mushrooms and egg rolls. The lemon chicken was decent but all the other items were bland and tasteless. There was also a slightly fishy smell to the fried items. The sauces in the beef and chow mien tasted gluey (mostly cornstarch). The veggies in the chow mein we good but the noodles seemed really soggy and mushy. To top it off there was a piece of plastic packaging in the rice (or the chow mein). I didn’t see it until it was all on my plate The order was $100 which is expensive and we expected more. We called to let them know about the plastic packaging (which they apologized for) and offered a $10 credit. I told them I doubted that they would get another order from us and that the $10 credit didn’t benefit us at all. We will NOT be ordering Golden...

The food was delicious I haven’t had Chinese food that taste this authentic in a long time! The portions are really huge it’s a bit more on the pricey side but it’s definitely worth the price, all dishes were full of meat and full of flavour I am amazed you gotta try it you won’t be disappointed 5 stars!

Update: WOOOOOOW my second time ordering and the food was sooooo good woooow, it was cooked to perfection the chef is amazing taste was 10/10!! I ordered the seafood fried rice again and the Bombay chicken which is similar almost to a jerk chicken flavour but not as spicy so if anyone does not like too much pepper they would enjoy the flavour of the Bombay chicken, the little hint of spice is a perfect balance! I also got the ginger chicken which was also delicious and the Shanghai noodles (my favourite dish) and the Vegetable Chop suey (also delicious) This has to be the best Chinese food I’ve eaten in a long time!! The food is absolutely delicious. The menu has a board variety of several types of food. Of course, as a picky eater, I would have to look through everything and find something specific that I like, but having so many choices, I could actually pick. I was so awestruck by the taste since my experiences at other restaurants weren't as pleasant, but Golden House's food is so amazing. The service was friendly and kind, which only made my experience better. What was most shocking was the price. The affordability of the food was surprising. Other restaurants I've went to were SO expensive, but Golden House offers an affordable price for those who wants cheap food.
