Kostas Greek Bakery — Restaurant in Toronto

Very upsetting experience. I placed an order for wheat and bread for siblings funeral. No problem will be ready the day of the funeral by 11 am (today). I arrived on time and came prepared with my bowl. When I arrived they had all ready had my package together. I looked at the wheat and realized this was not what I wanted. I was told flat out this is what I ordered. I said, no, I ordered wheat. They proceeded to tell me I should have come with my bowl 2 days earlier. I expressed that no one advised me if this. Apparently the woman that took my order started to loudly chastise me in front of many of there customers telling me she remembers exactly that I had ordered Golifa- which is for memorial. I was so upset I started yelling back at her. This was a very uncomfortable and embarrassing Situation. Due to my not knowing the Greek traditions, I would have expected the server to maybe clarify my order but this did not happen. To be berated like that, surely she must have realized that I was attending a funeral today. Of course she had no idea it was for my sibling, but this was no way to treat a grieving customer. This woman had no compassion. So rude! Fortunately, another woman came and helped me out. My order was adjusted and I went on my way. The experience just added further...

The family loves the quality of the sweets; kids always looking forward to when we visit. How disappointing today to shockingly find a late 20s to early 30s yr old not wearing a mask right beside us all, busting out his order in greek. I had to ask him why he felt he could be there not wearing a mask? His soft spoken mumbling didnt make the answer discernible. I asked one employee who looked somewhat in charge why & how they could allow that (of course signs ouside indicate masks are required!). No answer. Told another employee that this is not a good thing. How many people have lost loved ones? How many people have suffered financially; business owners & employees? If we don't all do our part, we will continue to deal with the ramifications of this pandemic! Everyone must speak up, if we dont, the bad behaved bully who thinks rules dont apply to them will only continue...

Great food at the bakery and great products in the store! We live at the other end of the city but we are doing a trip monthly to stock up on good feta cheese which can be bought in a big bucket at a better price than in the grocery store, big jar with kalamata olives, stuffed vine leaves in a big container, classic egg dye now for Easter (finally red eggs!), many veggie spreads for toast. The bakery is plain dangerous for one's shape. The different types of feta pita, tiramisu, eclairs (finally real eclair cream and not butter!), canolli, the Venetia cake, it's all amazing! Highly...
