Easily one of my Top 3 spots to enjoy breakfast/brunch at, in Toronto GTA. This place used to be unbeatable in service and consistent quality of food and selection, prior to Covid. Post-Covid has left the place with different staff and less items to spoil yourself with. There used to be a nice pastry/sweet counter. It is now serving as dust collector in a corner of the restaurant. There used to be a manager who served us that has left a long time ago. She used to remember all of our orders (up to 8 of us).. even when we changed some of our regular orders, she would remember the changes!! Now, every time we go there (which has decreased in visits from weekly to once per fiscal quarter), we have to order like it's our first time visiting the place. And something very strange.. as impeccable as the food quality and service usually is, this past visit during the week of September 19, I visited during the work week and met a friend I have not seen in 5 years. Food and service was great!! However, our table that we were seated at was sticky 😳😳😳. It was not a used table that I rushed to get to. It was one of many tables set and ready to seat new guests. This has never happened to me before during any other visits. Maybe, they changed how they clean tables. But, whatever the reason it was that day, the sticky table bothered me the entire visit. But, I did not want to cause a scene in front of my long time friend. She and I endured. Hopefully, it was just an isolated incident. Was that one aspect enough to turn me off from visiting again? No way. Good Morning Friends is still one of my Top 3 places for breakfast/brunch in all of Toronto GTA. Period. Food quality and overall customer service is consistently excellent. The owners definitely know what they are doing. It would be great if they expanded and had locations in the other cardinal directions. I firmly believe they would continually to earn more and more loyal customers who defect from the bigger, over-hyped breakfast franchises. If you have not been to Good Morning Friends for a meal yet, go and try. You will be very glad you did. In fact, writing this review Friday night/morning (3:09 am) is making my tummy growl. I am yearning and salivating for so many delicious items on the menu at GMF (Good Morning Friends). I think I am going to surprise my wife and bring her there first thing...
Read moreI have never in my life had to do a review but this one is called for ... If I was able to give this restaurant is zero I would… this was our first experience at this restaurant and definitely our last! I hope after reading this NO ONE SHOULD EAT HERE!
Aside for the food being completely crappy at best, the experience is what was most disappointing about this restaurant.
I came to this restaurant for the first time with my family and my five-year-old son and my two-year-old son, grandparents etc...I ordered French toast for my five-year-old who is allergic to cinnamon. The French toast came to the table and it had cinnamon in it… (we all tasted to make sure) Very hard not to notice since it smelled so strongly… I sent it back and Ordered another one which also came out with cinnamon… So I sent it back again. I sat at the table upset that I cannot give my five-year-old anything to eat... this is what he really wanted and nothing else.. The chef then started walking towards the table… I thought he was coming to apologize and maybe see if there’s anything he can do, but it was quite opposite, to all of our surprise, he started yelling at us at the table!! saying that he did not put any cinnamon in the French toast and continued to yell in front of my entire family and my two young children. This was incredibly embarrassing. I then got up from the table and went to speak to the head chef who is also the owner to tell him that I did not appreciate being spoken to like that In front of my family… He then continued to yell and scream at me without any justification in front of the entire restaurant with plenty of witnesses around… I would never ever go back to this restaurant and I hope nobody else will... it was a terrible experience that I wish upon nobody else. The place is far from our “friendly “restaurant. NOBODY SHOULD EVER BE TREATED WITH DISRESPECT INFRONT OF THIER CHILDREN AND FAMILY!!
Without customers there is no business... this jerk of an owner should learn to appreciate people who come to eat at his restaurant, after all, without our money there is...
Read moreToday we went for the first time and I have to say that I have never felt more at home! The food abundant and delicious, the servers, each with a big smile in their faces and so helpful, and the food was ready in no time! There are many choices to choose from and all of them delicious. Fruits were fresh, portions of everything were big, coffee and water with lemon refill at all times. Prices are very accessible and the place is very big. I highly recommend it! I want to thank to each and every server that make our time so pleasant and happy. We left with happiness in our hearts looking forward to a great day. I have never seen so many smiles as I saw today and they were so helpful at all times! Definitely looking forward to go back again!
Update: We went yesterday for Father's Day and we left pretty upset. We had to wait in a line to be seated and once seated we had to wait more than an hour to get our food which lacked quality. Our guess is that being that the place was full, the cook was pressured with time and so many orders, that the quality went down. My son asked for corned beef and he didn't understood what he got...he couldn't eat it. My daughter in law went very hungry and being that we had to wait so much she ended up filling herself with coffee and by the time the food came she wasn't as hungry so she couldn't eat as much. The same happened to me. We ended up bringing some of the food home and some we left because it wasn't worth it to keep it for later. We were given a 20% off for having to wait so long so I am grateful for that but lesson learned. A place I got to love turned to be a place we won't go again before 1pm because it seems that at brunch not many people come and the quality plus the timing of the plates at the table are both better. And be aware, holidays might be their busy times, and their kitchen is not as big or they only have one person to cook and the employees also are not many! Sorry but for this day my stars go to two, one for some of the food, one for the percentage off that I'm...
