Montana’s BBQ & Bar — Restaurant in Toronto

We had a family outing at an escape room and we were all hungry afterwards. We decided to come to this Montanas as it was pretty close to the escape room location and we were all from out of town. Mistake. The restaurant was busy, but not too busy that we had to wait for a table. We were seated at a booth, which ended up being awful because the table behind us had rowdy kids and our table and bench seat was shaking the whole time. The people at our table had to keep switching sides because it was giving them motion sickness (not the restaurants fault). We waited 40 min for a server to take our drink order even though we watched others come in after us and be seated and served. We finally had a server stop and ask if we'd been helped. She took our drink order and told us that our server would be right over to take our food order. She then brought us our drinks, except the beer which finally came out another 40 min later with our actual server, who then finally took our food order. Our food came out quickly (not by our server) and was absolutely delicious. We needed extra sauces and refills, but our server never came back to the table to check on anything, nor did any other once we had our food. We stopped another server to ask for the things we wanted, but we didn't receive our extra stuff (sauces only, forgot drink refills) until we were just finishing up eating. When we had finished eating, we waited for another half an hour for our server to come back, he didn't. We ended up stopping a young man who seemed to be a food runner/busser and asked him to find someone to bring our bill. We then waited another half an hour, which we then were finally able to flag our server down to ask for the bill, he again disappeared for another half an hour, and then finally showed up with the bill. The whole time we watched him at tables all around us and tried to get his attention, and not once did he acknowledge or do anything for us. We had to keep stopping random people who worked there to help us. Never got our drink refills. This place had excellent food but it was by far the worst customer experience (serving)...

Honestly, if I could give them 0 stars I would. My experience at this Montanas location was by far the worst. I am a loyal customer at this Montanas location and I had a large order of New York Striploin steaks for 10 people. 7 steaks were supposed to be cooked well done and 3 were supposed to be cooked medium rare. I drove 30 minutes from the east side of King City to Dufferin and Steeles to pick up my food just to drive 30 minutes back and realize how under cooked these steaks were. (barely even edible) All 3 of the medium rare steaks would not even be considered as blue rare they were completely undercooked and I will insert a picture for proof. My 7 well done steaks were cooked to medium rare which is still undercooked for what I asked for. When I called the location to see what they can do for me the manager told me to bring the rest of the food back and they will give me a refund. (8 of the 10 were uneaten, only cut into). I drove 30 minutes back there again and the manager I was speaking to brought out the general manager who apparently cooked these steaks and told me these were cooked until the right temperature and they will not give me my money back when they were clearly raw/undercooked. The general manager, Anton, was extremely rude and disrespectful and both of them walked away from me as I was still speaking to them. They were both yelling at me and telling me that these steaks were cooked perfectly, but if you look at the photo you can clearly tell otherwise. I will never be going back here. Also, the general manager didn't even have a business card and said they don't need them due to the pandemic??? Also, how is the general manager also the chef???? I RECOMMEND NO ONE EAT HERE, THE FOOD IS GARBAGE AND THE MANAGERS ARE EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL AND DONT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS HEALTH BY SERVING THIS!!!!!! Below this, my newest post is a previous post from months ago that I forgot to press the send button on. Last night we were there again and I had the 12oz strip loin steak. It was delicious. Definitely a 10 out of 10 experience. There wasn't anything left on the plate. Server was experienced and excellent. However my wife had The smokehouse wrap. She said it was mostly wrap with very little filling. Definitely something not to order. Unless you like tons of bread and starch. Below is my previous review.

We have been here five times over the last few months and every time has been a smashing success. We have found that every server we have had has prioritized making the visit an enjoyable experience for every guest. They all have this great personality which makes us want to return. It shows that they all work together as a team. I always order something different. So far the ribs are my favourite. In my case I find they are as addictive chocolate. Besides all of the great food and service is the very comfortable and laid back atmosphere which again makes for a very enjoyable experience. On our visit last night the manager "Kai" stopped at our table to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. He was very sincere.
