I had an extremely disappointing and humiliating experience at Value Village, all because of how I was treated by one of the Indian male staff workers. I came to the store after donating two large bags and receiving a 20% off coupon. Since it was my first time shopping there, I was genuinely excited to find a pair of pants I had been looking for especially because I was hoping to get them at a more affordable price compared to the high prices in malls.
But instead of a decent shopping experience, I was treated like a criminal. This employee acted like he worked at a high-end luxury boutique, treating me with unnecessary suspicion and disrespect. At one point, he even threatened to call the police, for what? I had money. I was ready to pay. There was no reason to treat me that way or to try and look into my personal bags. It was not only offensive it was completely out of line.
Letās be clear everything in Value Village is donated. These are not luxury items. This is not Balenciaga or some designer store. Acting like customers owe you something just because you work behind the counter is completely unprofessional. People shop at thrift stores because theyāre trying to save, and there should be no shame in that.
I didnāt deserve to be treated that way. I was excited to shop there for the first time and instead, I left feeling judged, insulted, and degraded. That employee needs to be held accountable. This kind of behavior ruins what should be a safe and affordable space for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStore policies are incredibly inconvenient for the customer. I cannot come here every two weeks just to return some pants that I bought that don't fit, especially of it's only for an exchange. The policy is 14 day exchanges. But there are no trial rooms, so people are forced to come into the store every 2 weeks just to get their money's worth. This is essentially convinced me to not come here at all until they get change rooms back.
More over, one of the cashiers forgot to give me a bill, which I think is fine. But when I called back to try to discuss getting these change, or getting my bill printed based on my credit card information or time that I bought my items, they said they couldn't help me at all cuz they had no way to access the billing system. What even is that? I ended up getting an exchange, but it was an extremely difficult process, and for a company that has to do with so many exchanges, they should be able to have access to their billing system and print out a bill based on credit card information. I have never been to any other store that can't just scan my credit card or something like that and find my bill through the computer system. This wouldn't be a big deal if the change rooms were a thing, but since they're not, a lot of people need to exchange items.
Overall, value village needs to review their policy and get with the times to make thrift shopping in the pandemic...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was browsing around Value Village and as I am going through their racks I am flabbergasted by their prices. This place is not Value Village, itās RIPOFF VILLAGE. Please stay away from Value Village altogether. I am disgusted by whoever is pricing their used and abused items and selling it for as much as new. There are people out there who actually rely on places like this to survive and this company is just a bunch of opportunists taking advantage of those in need. I recommend going to Salvation Army for your thrifting needs as a portion of the proceeds go towards charity and itās a non-profit Christian organization.
Iāve attached some photos of the prices I saw at Ripoff Village and comparing those items I purchased at Winners. Their dirty, old, used and abused New Balance sports bra is selling for $9.99 vs brand new and comparable at Winners $14.99. Their dirty used and abused Puma sports bra is selling for $10.49 vs brand new and comparable at Winners for $12.49 (the ones I purchased at Winners comes in a 2-pack for $24.99 as shown in the photo). Their dirty and old workout leggings are $14.49. Like seriously? Winners has workout leggings that go on sale for $20 and theyāre brand new. Anyway Iām just trying to spread awareness and hope people donāt shop or promote places like this that exploit and ripoff customers who actually rely...
