Part 1... Positives : Honestly āāā for the staff - all hard working women who spend hours working in a rather un-hygienic, possibly unclean, dull and depressing kitchen serving Gujarati / Rajasthani or Indian food lovers. The Owner (or manager) lady at the counter appears rude most of the times but that's like never going to change it seems.
NEGATIVES or Immense room for improvement or to be instantly worked uponš
The world has vowed to change but it seems this place has taken an oath of not changing since dinosaurs went extinct after an asteroid hit Mother earth. Where to begin with ??
Interiors: 1ā Dull, depressing and dirty as hell. Moreover cramped place to enter and exit and also to take food from the buffet system in between your Thali meal, the space is extremely less or cramped which becomes awkward for people to eat at the table with peace and privacy.
Washroom: 1ā The access to the washroom is irritating and to me looks like a Goofa (cave) which is not my complaint and even if I disregard that, The washroom itself is unbelievably old. How much ever the staff may clean it, it will always look dirty and creepy as hell. I wonder how is this place not being audited by Food authority or the govt department ?
The last table: 1ā Is touching the door which literally says "Washroom" on it. We had to sit there because the other table near the entrance that was empty was smelling like petrol / diesel and rather felt pukish. So this table touching the washroom door was the only option that we had to sit and eat as we were damn hungry. If you understand the real problem here, you will realize, that while you and your family sit and eat on this horrible table, you have 1 customer walking pass through you and your table to open the washroom door to visit the passage behind it to access the washroom. Pathetic, Gross and disgusting. Moreover, that door is not only for opening it to access the washroom but also to keep your unfinished or finished plates ( thali's) on to a box kept right behind that door. So more people keep passing by and right next to you to open that door that almost touches your body...This is preposterous in its purest form. This should be changed or relocated immediately.
Food: 2.5 to 3 āāā max Pandora of OIL. If about 71% of the Earth's surface is water-covered then approximately the same % of Food is covered With OIL in Govardhan Thal. Moreover a little less than half of the items that should be served hot are rather served cold - example Khandavi, Khaman Dhokla (which is also served without any chatni). Utmost Respect to the sweet and nice mother-like- Aunties who comes to the table to serve hot Roti's (chapati's) and yummy Puranpoli's atleast. šAgain respectš... But for instance they make chaas (buttermilk) with pre-added masalas in it. Now why is that needed to be done? Many people don't want masala chaas and rather prefer to drink plain buttermilk š. Taste is mediocre level and mainly I feel it might not be the taste to be honest but the worthiness that deteriorated especially when a customer ( food lover) expects after paying $80 for 4 Thalis (I went with my cousin, partner and her mother). I can go on and on for the food but by now many would have understood that this place needs a complete revamp in terms of being updated with modern times and at least provide a reasonably acceptable standard and quality when you charge $20 for your Thali which is almost the same every day.

Initial promptus thoughts that start ringing in your mind as you see and enter this restaurant makes you jittery. Narrow entrance, entryway full with occupants standing, narrow aisles to steer your way inside, till you pick up your plates and squeeze/ steer your way ahead each food delicacies placed on table tops.
Here is the twist.
You need two plates to take all served items on the long platform. With one plate stocked with 2 to 3 steel bowls & spoon leaves minimal space for even one serving!
So stocking your choice items you go to your alloted seating area.
As you start savouring each item at slow pace, same takes an acceleration and all agonies and hurdles you faced on entering and reaching here just evaporate!
To sum up , so yummy and tasty Gujarati good with a very wide and large options of all ie starters, Panipuriās, farsans, almost 8 types of vegetables ( each very tasty) , got roties with bonus of āpuran puriā , dal rice and 4 to 5 sweet supplements each surpassing one another.
Set aside all your apprehensions and doubts, just walk in to have an sumptuous full Gujarati food thali.
The staff takes full care to provide hot roties and other food items. Once you roll on with food served, forgiving the lack of a few things and items shall come naturally.
Kudos to their staff and team for providing a rich and warm Gujarati food experience at Ontario, Canada.
Enjoy your turn.
Another visit after an span of 5 months, 24 sept, this too a family food experience.
Again they deserve and earn all stars for food served. Positive improvement and vibes seen on better aligned seatingās coupled with assistance for seat allocation and all round help and coordination.
You really feel welcomed and again huge thanks to their team for providing an sumptuous Gujarati thali food.
So whenever you think or plan for an Gujarati thali eat out, Goverdhan Thal restaurant can surely be your preferred and chosen...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePathetic WHITE HAIR mannerless LADY OWNER.
I have respect for elders, but this white hair lady is ridiculously ill mannered. An arrogant woman with no sense of talking.
I went here with my parents, waited at the counter for 15 mins with noone to address (understanding that it's a small place & they're busy,we were patient). The lady then came & I asked if she could add our names to waiting list, she asked how many of us are we & gave us 1 table as we were just 3. We started taking the thali, since my mom is old, I was helping her fill her thali holding my thali empty. The table that was given to us was broken, I saw the table besides empty, so I just kept my empty thali on it whilst noone sat on any table yet. A group of 6 people came, I just told them we'll take this table which had the same chairs as the other 1 given to us but it was broken. As soon as I could realise anything, the lady came & yelled at me saying WITH WHOSE PERMISSION DID U SIT HERE. I replied politely saying sorry we dint yet sit, but the other table is broken. She still kept yelling whilst my father was apologizing to her saying no problem we dint yet sit, we'll take the broken table. The lady was like no now you'll have to wait as I allocated both the tables to 12 people. My parents were standing with their thali, my dad asked her what do we do with the these thali then. The group of people were also telling the lady that y is she yelling but she dint stop. The whole restaurant was looking at us. That's when I realised she is so mannerless & I asked my parents to leave, I replied back to her but dint seem like she cared. We left the restaurant & i will make sure i never look back at this restaurant again until this msg reaches this mannerless lady & she apologies. I'll make sure my known people know this too. Such a woman running a business is a shame for us Gujratis (I myself...
