Comparing to other tepanyaki restaurants I’ve been to in the past, this place would achieve 2/10, and I’ll explained why: Upon booking a reservation and asking if they are AODA/ADA compliance, they had no idea what I was asking about. So I asked if my guest can bring his service dog, they denied it, that’s fair, I guess I can be forgiving for that. So my guest suggested that he can try to manage and come to the restaurant without his dog since he really wanted to try the experience. Upon entry we felt the space was not ventilated properly, you can feel the smoke and steam everywhere. We were shown our table and notice couple of seats were dirty, server wiped it down and we sat. We decided to order chefs choice for five which includes shrimp, steak, chicken and vegetables. We also ordered steamed rice.
After placing our order server asked if we like to order drinks, we all ordered soft drinks. The chef came in and started to make the vegetables and chicken, he attempted to make an onion volcano which failed couple times, instead he created a ring of fire around the hot table. He cooked the chicken and started to serve us the vegetable and chicken. At this time our water started to arrive followed by soup, salad and soft drinks. As we were enjoying the chicken and vegetables the chef started to make the shrimp and steak… the server brought two sauce dish and he went away, after few min he brought the other three sauce dish. ( service was very unorganized and there was no structure). When the chef started to serve the shrimps our rice finally arrived, and last thing that was served was the steak. The chef had no flare, no shows nor he tried to entertain us which is why most people go to such place, for food and entertainment. We asked if we like to order dessert, we ordered cheese cake and ice cream, they then came back and said we are out of cheese cake. So we all ordered ice cream.
Food was okay, everything tasted about the same. Service was slow and unprofessional. Washrooms were not maintained The music was irrelevant to the theme of the restaurant and it was super loud. They pre charged us tips. We were truly...
Read moreMy partner and I have been buying food from this restaurant for the last two years since we moved to the area but our experience on the weekend has turned us all the way off. We came in to order take out. The first person who spoke to us was helpful and got us menus. As we were at the bar waiting for the menus another waitress with redish hair came to the counter and was just staring at us? So my partner said hi how are you to engage a conversation because it was getting awkward - and in an almost annoyed tone she responded fine? Can I help you? Her tone was very 'what are you even doing here?' We left it alone and just said we're waiting for menus and went back to our own conversation since she was clearly annoyed with us for whatever reason - that's on her.
Once the menus came to us, we asked the red head girl who was still standing immediately in front of us a question about the menu. She completely ignored our question while on the computer, even when my partner repeated himself, and even when I spoke up as well and said 'excuse me' she said nothing, quickly turned around and got her bags and walked out of the restaurant - no communication or anything. No ' someone else will help you' not even ' sorry I'm done my shift' - the attitude was so off putting and random, the entire experience was very odd and we both were so turned off by her attitude I don't think we'll ever be back. No one ever came back to assist us so we just ended up leaving without ordering anything since we literally couldn't? Very unwelcoming experience.
When they open up the food stand out front next summer we'll come back then because those guys have 100x better customer service than those inside the establishment....
Read moreIt’s a flashback to the early 90s. I’ve been to many tepanyaki grill restaurants and this was by far the worst. From the dated room to a scared Indian chef who found it “too loud” to perform or get our food cooked timely, to empty cocktail glasses and every person saying they weren’t the server. The onion volcano was 3 rings that was a short fizzle - it was honestly a laugh at how bad it was. The rice & vegetables were cold by the time we got the proteins. Everything was sooooo over salted- the only”trick” the chef knew was to salt the food while he tapped his spatula handle in beat to the salt . The miso soup was luke warm- we were told to share the sushi appetizer - odd no?! The lobster tails were chewy and over cooked. Bland sauces. The drink menu is totally 90s chic - complete with blue curaçao and banana liqueur. The glassware has seen better days and giant glasses of water with straws is just not appealing. We had a prix fixe prepaid dinner to try hibachi and it was a fail. I wouldn’t recommend or go back. They charge 18% gratuity on top of taxes- and claim it’s part of the terms and conditions but couldn’t tell me where. The server was beyond atrocious, and the chef was mediocre at best- not worth 18% - I couldn’t even get a second drink and the bus girl was spraying down the table with cleaner as soon as the other couple left. Other tables did have chefs that were engaging and putting on a show and servers were bringing drinks - I think if you opt for a set menu to try the restaurant they failed by giving the worst service in the corner with the new chef.
Bottom line - no idea how they’ve stayed open or why anyone would return. We certainly would not go again...
