CHECKING IN: The front desk area was very neat and tidy. Our front desk agent was very courteous and the check-in process went smoothly.
ROOM: Simply amazing. The sitting area and bathroom are separated from the bedroom by large sliding doors. There was a mini-bar with plenty of stock, and if you wanted to take the stuff out and use it as a fridge, it's easy to do as it’s not weight censored (at least our wasn’t). The entrance was very spacious with a place to sit and put your shoes on, very nice! Safe provided in a closet along with usual hotel amenities such as hair dryer.
Bathroom: heated floor, floor light (great as a night light), large vanity area, shower separate from large soaker tub. Robes and slippers provided were a great addition.
Sitting Area: A nice comfy couch with a coffee table and tv directly in front; great sitting area. A desk and chair are also provided for working and are located in a manner that make’s seeing the tv very easy.
Bedroom: I don’t think I’ve ever slept with more comfortable sheets! Holy Boy they were awesome! There were light switches to turn on the bathroom light, to open/close drapes as well, and another flat screen tv to watch if desired. There was turn down service provided and they put a towel at the foot of your bed so you don’t have to walk around on the hotel carpet with bare feet. Sweet!
GYM: Great, many modern machines, dumbbells, smith machine, medicine balls and universal system with cable pulleys. Could also use the sun-deck to work out which allows for doing walking lunges, among other things.
POOL: A decent lap pool, not deep, maybe 4 feet?
HOT TUB: The tub was a great size, jets were fairly powerful, however, they weren't very well located as you could only get a jet up over the mid-back, not hitting the shoulders and also making it difficult to massage low-back. If the Jets were staggered this would improve the hot tub immensely.
LOCATION: The hotel was in a great location. A pizzeria (Pizza Rustica) and breakfast diner (Cora's) are directly across the street. It’s a five minute walk to the Rogers Centre. Ample parking options are available either with the hotel or another of several nearby lots.
One downside is the noise from the courtyard we heard. There was a party going on right under our window on the ground floor (we were 4 floors up). We only heard them twice, but could hear them nonetheless. Better windows might help, not sure. It wasn't that big of a deal but I could see this causing some issues for some.
We typically stay at the Sheraton Centre every summer, however, we’ll be looking at staying at the Soho if the price fits. We got a deal through wagjag/jaunt, so I’m not sure we could justify the regular room...
Read moreWhen we first knew we wanted our wedding in Toronto we had dreamed of having our ceremony on a terrace with a view of the most iconic landmark behind us, the CN tower. We were able to find that perfectly at the Soho Hotel! We wanted a place where our guests and wedding party can stay comfortably and have the ease of being able to do an outdoor ceremony all in one place. We were able to book a stunning Soho suite and the hotel was able to secure 20 discounted rooms for any of our guests to book at their own pleasure.
The ceremony space and terrace were perfect for the day, we had the whole space which is situated on the 7th floor and can only be accessed by a private lift. The 7th floor terrace also had two indoor spaces in case of rain which was helpful as it was meant to rain on the day of our wedding… instead it was very hot and humid so we used the indoor space after the ceremony for cocktail hour as it was air-conditioned and more comfortable for our guests. All our vendors had perfect access to the space and we had ample room for all our guests to enjoy the whole day. We also took all of our wedding photos on the terrace, so we really made use of the space.
The hotel was able to offer great catering for our cocktail hour, supplying all our drinks and chefs delights from the Moretti Restaurant. Jude, the sales and catering manager was our most recent point of contact when it came to planning. We only started speaking a few months before the wedding but from that point forward, we knew we were in good hands. She dealt with everything personally, was very responsive (which was helpful as we planned from the UK), and was incredible on the day. Jude also ensured we had everything we needed in our rooms in the morning as we were getting ready. She was so involved on the day from meeting the groom to show him easier access to the terrace for our guests, setting up herself with a team and ensuring we had absolutely everything we needed.
Overall we had a great experience and time at the hotel and we couldn’t imagine having it anywhere else. Thank you for making sure our special day...
Read moreWe had the worst experience here this past weekend. It was my wifes birthday day and it did not go good. We checked our credit card a few days later and it showed a charge of X amount of dollars. When we first arrived to the hotel i put money on the table when we came back it was gone and only a few bills left. I doubled checked every where and started thinking i lost it but i knew i was sure it was there. A girl at the front desk had answered the phone and she was so rude i had to call back. When i called back and asked for a manager stating the girl i first talked to couldnt give me one. I find it funny that such an expensive classy hotel doesnt have some kind of management there after 4. The gentlemen transferred me to the head chef which was closest to management he was very pleasant i must say. The next day they had said they charged my credit card for smoking in there. Because they saw a bag of my tabacco from my cigars because i roll my tobacco they accused me of it being marijuana. They took pictures of crumbs of tobacco and a bag of cigar insides. What i have in my room is my personal goods they said i smoked in there mean while i told them to check there cameras and they can see that i was going in and out for a smoke/cigar. The Manager Phillip was so rude that he was accusing me of having drugs. He was laughing when ever i said something like it was a joke. And they didnt even tell me they where charging me for something i never did. They have smoking rooms if i wanted to smoke inside i would have gotten a smoking room. Its sad such a nice hotel has bad management like that, ive told so many people about the Soho, never again. When i said to check cameras he said i got to many people coming in and out, that night i was going in and out there was nobody coming in and out. I now have to wait to talk to the GM but with this kind of professionalism who knows when he'll call. Sorry about your birthday babe and thanks Soho for such...
