I was with my friends and we looked around a bit, we weren't going to enter until I saw some nice batteries I wanted so I dragged them in with me and we checked the place out, then we saw chocolate and the honey, which the lady tending to was very kind and sweet, then we checked out the chocolate bars and woow the experience from there went downhill from there.
The guy with the dreads working at the cashier, was constantly giving micro aggressions and then decided to like mention "I work a minimum wage job" as if he was trying to tell us he hates his job, while tell us about the chocolate, then straight up tells us, "I don't wanna say 'Americano' because I don't like them right now" and I'm like what the heck are you saying to us bro, we just here to check it out and about to tour the exhibit, not to hear what ethnicity you hate.
Like damn my guy. I can see why he's telling us "He's working a minimum wage job" because he's not even hiding that he's racist and acting like he's ready to get fired. He's been the most insufferable and unprofessional staff I've ever met, like I went up to get some chocolate and he just walked off like he was offended when we wanted to try the chocolate or something then tried to ask me personal information, and I'm like nahhh, that's not happening bro, then to top it off, like he just insults our picks on the chocolate.
I'm reporting this guy when I go back because he single handily ruined our experience and I wouldn't have wanted to go back if not for the other reviews that talked about interesting exhibit with the cool merch and the other friendly staff being professional.
I'll change the review when management takes a second look at staffing professionalism and won't meet someone who's insufferably racist and "working minimum wage" the next time I go back for the chocolate and honey because that made up for what we just...
Read moreIt was interesting for sure. Visually stunning... Though somewhat ironic.. as one room they are drawing attention to the amount of tech waste humans create...yet you need tech to take advantage of the experience throughout. One experience wasn't working. Yet no mention of this online or at the counter as you're checking in. They wait until you walk into the room to tell you.though they did mention we would be sent free tickets. I would have liked too know upfront. For my wife and I, it was a 2 plus hour drive. Will we take advantage of the free tickets. Likely not.. I did enjoy it. Was it a 40$ worthy experience. No in my opinion. 20-25$ would be a more reasonable price for what you get. The tik toks and various other reels make it look huge. It's not, the rooms are on the smaller size. You have "triggers" all over that you trigger with your device to open the augmented reality features. That's a delicate dance you have to make with all the other patrons. As everyone is vying for that "trigger". Then spinning around with their face in their device not paying attention to their surroundings. Some areas are not well lit. My wife is slightly visually impaired, so this was a challenge for her. If scents are not your thing. Then avoid this experience. Two rooms smelt like urine. One was on purpose, due to a scent exhibit. I would have liked to experience this without my face stuck into a device and everyone around me stuck in a device. Personally I think it was some commentary on how we tech dependant. It was a teachable experience though I found the facts they were parroting to you were elementary. I'm sure most fourth graders could parrot the facts. I just wonder what the environmental impact was of all the paint, the projectors. One room claims plastic is very bad. Though they don't mind you pulling out the plastic to purchase things from...
Read moreI don’t think you can ignore the price… the experience needs to be gauged against some comparison criteria…
Using the Presto discount, we averaged $40. We were a group of adults and kids 10-16, looking for something to do. No one had heard of this, so agreed to try it.
There was a combination of large screen video graphics, some iPad/app integrated visuals, displays that you can touch/feed/smell. As the place was deserted, we could take our time.
Everyone had a good enough time but also agreed that it wasn’t spectacular. Particularly when I told them how much it was. I would rate it higher if it was $20-25.
We have been to TeamLabs in Tokyo (similar interactive concept) for the same price, and that is a 10/10 whereas this was a 5. Partly because there just weren’t as many rooms (completed in an hour vs 3 hrs), that the activities were underwhelming as well as value for money. Also, the Japan experience was more hands on/ full body immersive and less reliant on VR, which felt kitschy at times.
We also added on the optional Planetarium movie. It plays every 30m. It helped pass more time but some of us just napped.
There are other attractions in the GTA that would be more interesting and within a similar price point. Go to the Ex, Aquarium, Zoo, Wonderland, Rec Room.
But if you’re looking for a date night activity downtown this would work. And the Food Hall at the Well had a lot of variety!
The other thing is that there is only 1 washroom stall in the foyer. There is a larger washroom once you’re deep within the experience. Suggest going elsewhere...
