I went here for my friend’s birthday as it was the entire group’s (except mine) first time to try teppanyaki.
The wait time wasn’t that long, wasn’t expecting there to be since we reserved ahead.
The service was poor, like really poor. I’ve been to a teppanyaki place in Jamaica when i went on vacation and the place there was lively and energetic. Over here it was dead quiet. The chef didn’t do any cool tricks, interact with our group or the other people at the table, and just cooked our food… that’s it, just cooked. If we wanted to see a chef cook meals for us, we may as well stayed home and cooked ourselves for a way cheaper price. What’s worse, seeing other tables go through the same dull experience. The teppanyaki part is all what they have going for them. The bar and restaurant is completely empty, almost looks like a large storage room.
There was someone who roamed around, seemed like the manager, couldn’t even speak fluent english for us to understand what he was saying. Which sucks on many levels cause we don’t know what we’re doing there.
The worst part of all… the mandatory 15% service fee… BE WARNED, YOU ARE NOT TOLD ABOUT THIS FEE! THEY SNEAKILY ADD IT TO YOUR BILL. We weren’t told about this fee at all through our time here, even when we called to reserve. Why in the world would i pay a 15% fee to someone who can’t even do a proper job? Didn’t interact with us, didn’t talk to us, didn’t even do a cool flame volcano or make jokes with us. No warning of that fee and we didn’t know until we paid and left. The manager guy stood over us as we paid to see if we tipped, which we didn’t because of the poor service and he grabbed the machine in frustration like he did something to improve our service. Again, no warning on the 15% tip, which is what pissed us all off.
To end this review, if you really want the experience and want to go badly, find a better spot to go to. If you just want to waste your new paycheck on piss poor food, terrible service, and a mandatory applied 15% fee, then...
Read moreWe received a gift card for $100, so went here for lunch. When i try to ordered a drink on the menu, I was asked if I had a gift card, and when I said yes, my server told me the drink was on special and I have to pay full price instead, I order a sake instead. We were party of two and ordered the seafood combo, added a side of filet mignon, green dragon roll, shrimp temperu. Since we aren't big eaters, we thought it was enough since the combo also came with rice. The combo came with miso soup and salad as well. Our server brought the salad and soup quickly and after tasting the miso soup, I told the server that the soup was only warm and asked for a hot one, the server sounded surprised, and said oh you like your soup hot...she did returned with a hot one, but it was obviously added with hot water and not a new one was prepared since it tasted watered down and the little seaweed it had which I ate was none to be found. The shrimp tempura was the saddest I have ever seen, see photo, the shrimps were so tiny. Next came the green dragon roll, which was actually good. The seafood combo, at $49, consisted of 5 tiny scallops each about the size of a quarter, 5 tiny shrimps and a 4 oz lobster tail. We also added a sirloin steak. The scallops were under cooked and the lobster was over cooked, same for the steak, we asked for medium but it was like well done. The entire meal was over $128, and when I asked for the bill, the server said since I had a gift card, 15% is added automatically. Frankly I would have left at least 15% anyways as service was ok. Food quantity can be more generous. You get what you give, cheap out on food and turn away future customers. Attention management, increase portion size by 30% and I will come back. See photo on Tapanyaki, the food there is $70. Barely enough for 1 person. I seldom write feedback this long but I felt this place can do much better. Much room for...
