Hot Oven Bakery - BWV — Restaurant in Toronto

I'm a regular at this bakery, visiting once or twice a week as I take my dog for a walk - the stuff is good in here although I think it's a bit pricy. Usually it's busy, which is no problem, and usually it takes a while to be served because many times there is only one staff person. The thing is, quite often customers who have entered the store after me are served first, which I find very annoying. Today, when I was approached to be served, I deferred to someone who had entered the store before me. While that person was paying, someone else entered the store and was served immediately even though the sole staff member knew I was next. This really irked me, so much so that It's going to be a very long time before I go into this...

Fantastic Orange Cake, Quiche, and Butter Tarts are reportedly delicious. Counter help are competent and friendly, despite always being extremely busy. I dealt with the owner elsewhere once. She was unbelievably rude and spoke horribly about her employees for not answering the phone, while she called the store incessantly. A general rule of customer service is to deal with the person waiting patiently in front of you before the phone is a priority. I was so repulsed by her behaviour, I boycotted this bakery for a long while. Eventually, the consistant quality, value and service drew me back in. I'm glad I have never seen her there. I do my best to avoid supporting establishments owned by people who verbally abuse...

Edit: The store manager replied and offered to correct things. Their willingness to adjust things, as well as their responsiveness, warrants bumping up the rating.

Original Review: The bread is tasty, but there were a few things that ruined the experience. My girlfriend bought some loaves of bread here (challah and another loaf). While the challah tasted great, it was shredded up and cut super thin. As a result we can't do too much with it. The other was cut normally. There was also some hygiene issues, with no gloves worn or hands washed between touching the register and the bread. These are pretty easy fixes and the bread itself tastes good, so we're hopeful that things can be corrected for the next...
