Kinton Ramen on Bloor is hands down one of the best ramen spots in the city. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the energetic “Irasshaimase!” that sets the tone for a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The space is modern, clean, and cozy, making it perfect for a casual dinner, a quick solo meal, or even catching up with friends.
The menu has something for everyone, but the star is definitely the ramen. The broth is rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced – you can really taste the time and care that goes into making it. I tried the pork miso ramen and it was phenomenal: the broth was hearty without being too salty, the noodles had the right chewy texture, and the pork was tender and full of flavor. The toppings (corn, seaweed, green onions, and that soft-boiled egg with a creamy yolk) brought everything together beautifully.
What I really like about Kinton is the ability to customize – you can choose the richness of your broth, noodle texture, and toppings. It makes the experience feel personal. Portion sizes are generous too; you leave feeling satisfied without being overwhelmed.
The service is also a highlight. The staff are friendly, quick, and attentive, even when the place is busy. Food comes out hot and fast, and they check in just enough without hovering.
If you’re into sides, definitely try the takoyaki and the fried chicken – both are delicious and pair well with the ramen.
Overall, Kinton Ramen on Bloor is a must-visit if you love ramen or even if you’re new to it. Consistently delicious food, great energy, and a fun vibe – it’s easy to see why people keep coming back. Highly...
Read moreI remember when Kinton joined the ramen scene in Toronto. It was an above average bowl in the exploding ramen landscape. It’s been years since I’ve been to a Kinton location and when a friend suggested it the other night I thought, “Sure, it should be good.” Sadly it wasn’t. It appears Kinton has gone corporate and is now franchising, and as a result the food has taken a serious hit. It was lazy and awful. Looking at the menu my first worry came from the picture of the gyoza. It looked deep fried. I asked the waitstaff and yes, in fact, it is deep fried. In my experience this means it’s not Japanese and for sure not gyoza. It makes it Asian deep fried dumplings. No self respecting Japanese restaurant deep fries their gyoza. Pan fried on the flat side, then steamed with the lid on. It is NEVER a good sign when they are deep fried so was stayed clear. This was telling of things to come.
I’ll get to the point here. The ramen noodles were undercooked, and the broth tasted vaguely of lemon dish soap. Frankly speaking, the toppings were lazy. The garlic was simply minced and spooned raw on top. The spice in the spicy ramen was hot pepper. thinly sliced, and again just tossed on top. No nuance, only raw harsh flavor. And to be clear, I love garlic. Japanese food is famous for its subtleties and parings. This ramen (and gyoza) was designed for profit maximizing. A corporate franchise disaster. Lazy and not worth the nearly 20/bowl. Go elsewhere...
Read more3 friends. We ordered 3 ramens, two cheesecakes, kimchi and couple of beers.
I had a friend visiting from Ireland and thought Kinton would be the best place to take him right after he lands in Canada (for the first time). I have been to almost all Kinton locations in Toronto (GTA included) and this was the worst experience.
I explained the lady that can I have the table near window as my friend is coming from Ireland. There were three people already at that table and they were almost done. So I was willing to wait. The lady I was talking to was the manager turns out. She at first said that its Friday (weekend) so we cant give this table to 3 people as it accommodates more people. Lets not forget that when she was explaining this nonsense to me…there were exactly 3 people sitting at that table. Then she lied on my face that other group of 5 has already reserved that table. I know this because after we got sat to another table, literally no one sat at that table. We sat till 15 mins before closing (which is past their last call time) and the table was empty.
Food - my friend and I got bad stomach right after eating and guess what both of us ordered the same ramen. Third friend was fine because he ordered a different one.
There were many other small things which can be ignored but the above mentioned issues were unacceptable. I didn’t even tip them.
1/10 - definitely dont recommend this location to anyone. They should change...
