I live in the area and I have passed their lunch special sign outside for years and today I was around for lunch. Complete disappointment. First of all, Im not sure what the ‘special’ was. It does not come with a spring roll or soup or salad like most lunch specials do. Also, the portions were tiny and the prices were not. The prices on the newly printed menus we received after being seated were 30% higher than the sign I have passed for ages. Now, maybe I missed that they had updated the sign. These menus looked brand new. So all the lunch specials were 17,95 or more and only come with an entree. The portions are very very very small. I am a small person and I had to come home and have something to eat after. I had a shrimp curry. It came with a prep bowl portion of white rice so maybe 1/3 cup and a similar bowl size of curry. Now the sauce was v good but not commensurate with the price, which might be for fine dining for an appetizer sized lunch. I can literally break down the contents…. 3 slices of carrots, 3 thumb sized pieces of broccoli, 1 green bean cut in half, a sliver of red pepper that garnished the rice and 2 medium shrimp. Very disappointing. My companion had a noodle dish and it came in a bowl the size of a cereal bowl…. Not the high sided ramen sized bowl of cereal… the soup bowls that come in a dish set that my small children use to eat cereal. I shouldn’t have to pay like 25$ after tax and tip for basically a sample size of curry. It is outrageous. I mean maybe you see that downtown. But even downtown where I normally am for lunch, you wont see portions this small. I love buying local and prefer family owned restaurants instead of chains when possible. I will never eat here again for lunch. Too expensive and you will leave hungry. Like I said, I am small person, so I am not looking for ‘American’ sized portions. I dont expect to leave needing another lunch after spending nearly 25 bucks per person. Maybe dinner is larger based on other photos but the dinner prices are only a few dollars more than lunch so again, what is...
Read moreThis is my second time ordering takeout here in two days (through UberEats). Overall great impression. The portion sizes are good and the food is delicious—tastes authentic. It also arrived still hot both times. The prices are a bit high but for an extra $5-7 you’re getting better quality/taste than a place like Thai Express.
Specific meal reviews: • Lemongrass Soup (Tom Yum) - $10.95 - perfect authentic taste. The portion size is for one person so keep that in mind. • Sticky Rice with Peanut Sauce - $8.00 - truly the stickiest rice, great appetizer if you’re a fan of rice, I paired it with the Tom Yum soup and it gave it a coconut aftertaste. • Pad Thai - $20.95 - flavourful, not too spicy, and had a slight citrus aftertaste (would recommend) • Chicken Fried Rice - $20.95 - delicious! If you’ve never eaten here before or can’t decide what to get, this is a classic Asian dish that won’t disappoint. • Beef Pad See Ew - $20.95 - so good. Felt like the portion size was a bit bigger with this one and they didn’t skimp out on the beef! (Would recommend) • Chinese Broccoli and Mushroom in Oyster Sauce - $18.95 - this one was a bit pricey but yummy. Also, I appreciated the use of two different mushrooms and also including peppers although not mentioned in description.
I look forward to dining in one day and I hope the service is as good as the...
Read moreI love this Thai place near our home! It's so convenient as it's steps to Runnymede station on Bloor Street and this family restaurant has excellent service!! The website to order take-out was simple to use and best of all, it remembered our information from the last time we ordered which made it very easy to place another order here. What I didn't know was that if your order is over $30, they provide free delivery (local area) - definitely great for these cold days in Toronto!!
We ordered takeout tonight but forgot to take pictures cuz we were that hungry :( but had our usual - Pad Thai Thai Style and tried something new - Kraphao Glass Noodle. The Pad Thai is very consistent and it definitely satisfied our cravings but unfortunately, the glass noodle was just ok. It reminded me of a Chinese rice noodle dish I've had many times before as the Thai flavours weren't present and the sauce was a bit too thick with the cornstarch. I wish they cooked it with more of the Thai Basil, chili's, and provided a few more Wedges of lime to get a good balance of spice, acidity, and flavours.
Other than that, the experience was great as I got my food within 15 minutes (website said 30) and I'll definitely be back to try other things on their menu! Based on previous experiences, their...
