Illy Caffe — Restaurant in Toronto

Normally I would not write a comment on a cafe that is a grab and go place. I have to give illy cafe which is on the second floor of Yorkdale mall a one star to make a statement. I went there on a busy Saturday afternoon with my friends for some coffees. The line was long and I was waiting patiently. We moving towards the cashier slowly and by the time I was at the cashier, she was very impatient and said I was supposed to order along the line which I and the customer behind me both did not realize. That was fine and I started to place my order. She was rude and impatient to rush me out.I got upset and ask for a manager. That was the starting point of the story. He came out and told me to keep quiet and pay and move on without listen to my concern. I said "pardon me?" And this white man, the manager, use his own white accent to speak one word in Cantonese to ask me to "shut up" . I think he learned from his staff or friend. This is very insulting and he was judging people by the look ie ( racist) . I told him I don't speak Cantonese. He called the security over. I even talked to the security that we are not staying in this very rude place from staff to the management. Even the security shown compassion. We left. I just want to say this place has very poor service. They might not care about losing one or two customers since they are a very busy cafe. I had the pleasure of visiting Illy cafe recently and I must say that it was a fantastic experience. The cafe has an upscale and modern ambiance that feels cozy and welcoming.

One of the things that impressed me about Illy cafe was their coffee quality. They have a wide range of coffee options that are brewed to perfection with a rich, bold taste that is truly memorable. In addition to their coffee, Illy cafe also offers a variety of teas, pastries and sandwiches, all of which are delicious and freshly made.

The staff was very accommodating and friendly. They were quick to make recommendations from the menu and they were knowledgeable about the coffee and other offerings. The service was prompt and attentive, which added to the relaxed dining experience.

Another standout feature of the cafe is the attention paid to the decor and atmosphere. The seating arrangements are comfortable and, although the cafe is quite small, the clever layout creates a sense of intimacy and coziness.

The only downside to my experience was the premium prices, which, while premium, were expected for the quality of the products and the overall exceptional customer service. They’ve really gone down hill. I use to love their coffee and snacks, not anymore. Service is very poor and slow. Ordered a large cappuccino, it was watery, two shots of espresso in a huge cup and filled it up with milk, that’s a latte, not a capp. Two other people came in while I was waiting in the lineup and they got tired of waiting so they left. I said to the young man behind the counter “you’re losing customers because people are tired of waiting”, he responded “ not my problem if they don’t schedule enough people to serve customers”. Wow! The Nutella and ricotta sandwich that I’d had several times before was horrible, there was about 1/4 the amount of ricotta on it this time and no visible Nutella. My husband ordered a piece of cake that was not fresh, very old and outdated. I went there today after not going there for 6 mts because we’d been disappointed before, but thought we’d give it another chance, bad move, nothing has changed, except gotten worse.
