Solid prices for solid food. There's one table inside with four chairs, but other than that, expect to order takeout. They don't do big batches of anything ahead of time. I heard they only had like six beef samosas ready, which is fantastic. They believe in fresh food. They also make all their own spice blends.
My friend got their palak gosht. Their palak gosht (spinach and goat curry) was delicious. At $8.99, there was a decent amount of goat in it, and the curry had goat flavor throughout it, so I know the goat and the spinach were cooked together. My friend asked for it to be made not spicy, and they said they could do it, but when she ate it, it still had some spice to it. Not just to her, but to me, and I'd say I have a somewhat better than average tolerance for spice.
I had one of their specials, which was chicken 65, vegetable korma, and 3 chapatti's for $7.99. I also got Bombay toast ($1.99). The Bombay toast was kinda nice. It was a toast sandwich with chutney (which I couldn't taste), and an option of either paneer and potatoes, or butter chicken. I had the paneer and potato. It was mostly potato, but there was melted cheese, which presumably was the paneer. I didn't know paneer could melt. This is probably the mildest flavored food out of all the ones we ordered, but it still hand hints of spice. The chicken 65 was juicy chunks of chicken with some sort of spicy ketchupy marinade cooked into it and pan-fried(?) with onions and chilies. Tasty. The vegetable korma had whole spices like cardamom in it and the sauce was creamy and delicious. The chapatti was umm...chapatti. I like my flatbreads fluffier or flakier. I realize chapatti isn't supposed to be either, but that's what came with my meal, so I can't complain.
They have a number of other things on the menu that I want to try, so I'll definitely be back.
Oh! Yelp check in gets you 10% off some already very decent...
Read moreIF YOU EVER GO FOR A TAKEOUT, OPEN THE PACKING AND CHECK BEFORE YOU LEAVE!!! Item seemed old as I had stomach issues every time I consumed it. If I skipped that item and consumed anything else , I was alright . That’s how I found out . It could be the heavy oil as well . I don’t think I will be confident enough to try these dishes or anything else in this restaurant seeing the other reviews about other dishes .
I have totally tried two times and both were takeout orders. I ordered chicken roast and parotta both times . During my first time experience, I felt the chicken roast was oily but taste and quantity were good . Even the parotta was very oily . So , the second time when I visited the restaurant, I politely requested to make it less oily. They blindly gave me this dish which I have posted as pictures here. You can very well see the oil floating on it. I couldn’t do much as I had picked up and came back to only notice it after reaching home. When customers request you to do a dish in a certain way , either be honest that all your dishes would come in the same way as it is or oblige to the requests and make the changes . Instead, following such practices where you try to fool the customers without being transparent , will only bring down your reputation as a genuine business . Absolutely ridiculous to offer food this way . They do take at least 15 mins or more to hand over the packing - so my assumption is - either the dish is already prepared and then they take the time to heat it and offer it to us after a stipulated time so that we don’t think it’s reheated and made fresh OR they are making it fresh but in the same oily style ignoring customer requests.
I have a feeling that it is an old stock - not sure how the chicken items are procured and...
Read moreThis is a takeout restaurant. We ordered 2 chicken samosas, 1 butter chicken sandwich, 1 kerala porata, 4 chatpati, 1 chicken briyani, 1 kerala fish curry, 1 palak mutton, 1 beef curry and 2 gulab jamoon. In overall, the food was very dissappointing and I would not reccomend this place.
The chicken samosas are basically the frozen samosas you buy in the grocery stores. They tasted okay....but dissappointed that the restaurant sold store bought frozen samosas. The sandwich was okay, but had a burnt flavour to it. The kerala porata was good but it tasted like any other porata...unsure what makes it "kerala" porata. The chapati are very dry and did not taste good. The chicken briyani rice seemed old and slightly undercooked. Briyani flavour was average at best. The kerala fish curry was terrible. The fish curry had a burnt flavour, extremely oily and the fish was very, very salty. The palak mutton was good but the mutton was hard...and frankly I have tasted much better palak dishes than this. The beef curry was very poor. The curry had an overpowering flavour of curry leaf...what's the point of eating beef if you can't taste it. Lastly, the gulab jamoon was good, nothing special, but good.
I would have given 1 star but gave another star because they seem like...
