I came in on a whim with a friend for a snack, and am so glad I did! I pass this place frequently doing errands in Kensington market and am now committed to being a regular. I have only had the sushi pockets and I love them. My top 3 are the spicy torched salmon, bulgogli beef, and tuna. The Japanese squash is good if you want something starchy and the truffle mushroom has good flavour & texture - both solid veggie options! I wasn’t crazy about the dynamite but there was nothing wrong with it - I just didn’t love that the avocado was a smooth sort of guac texture, and there was too much of it for my taste, but it was still enjoyable as the shrimp and crab were good. The crab and cheese is a weird and wonderful selection that I wasn’t mad at, but not sure I’d get every visit. I really dig the ‘magic’ sauce as my favourite selection in the condiment assortment. The service is beyond friendly and helpful if you have questions. There are ample pics to help guide your choices and they have some premade in a case so that you can see the pockets, too. Recommend paying cash to save 10% on your order! The first time I went my friend and I had 3 pockets each as a snack and that was great (I could probably do that for a lunch and be fine). The next time I went it was late afternoon, I hadn’t eaten the whole day, and my friend and I had 6 pockets each… it was a lot, but I didn’t regret it (and I didn’t have anything else the entire day either). I like to sit at the hightop bar at the window and draw people in with mmm-face and let people see the food we’re eating. The one problem with going is that you won’t stop thinking about it until the next...

This was my first time having pocket sushi. Yelp had randomly recommended it as I went in search for good food in Toronto. I was torn about coming here because I’d seen so many other good restaurants on Yelp & Eater. I chose to abandon all else and make the trek to Kensington Market. I ordered the Guacamole, Scallop Fantasy, Stamina Unagi, Spicy Torched Salmon, Bulgogi Teriyaki, Cheesy Crab, the Hot & Sweat and a bottle of Sapporo. The food presentation was so enticing and I could see gold flakes atop each delicately prepared pocket. In my mind I rubbed my hands together in anticipation, and from the first bite of the Guacamole pocket, I knew I’d made the right choice. Everything was superb. I added a bit of the Magic sauce on top with a sprinkle of the S&B Nanami Togarashi Chili Pepper on top. It was pure heaven. I literally closed my eyes while I indulged. I ate a bit of ginger in between bite which I’d recently been taught from a very experienced Omakase chef. My least favorite was the Scallop Fantasy & Stamina Unagi so I ate the fish off the top and opted to order 2 more of my favorite, that Spicy Hot & Sweat!!!! This was a pocket of the purest food pleasure. I will forever remember this sushi, simply mouth watering. The hostess, Anna, was very sweet, kind, attentive and a ray of sunshine! You must come try this little pocket of Japan in Toronto. I’ll be back every time I touch down in the city. Y U M M E R S in the T U M M...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Koi: Japan Sushi, and it was an experience that exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I stepped onto their inviting patio, I was captivated by the relaxed and chilled atmosphere.

Now, let's talk about the food—amazing doesn't even begin to describe it. The Stuffed Inari Sushi at Koi: Japan Sushi was a symphony of flavors and textures. The delicate rice pouches, gently sweetened and meticulously crafted, encased the most delightful fillings. Each bite was a burst of culinary delight, leaving me in awe of the chef's skill and attention to detail. The combination of fresh ingredients and expert craftsmanship truly elevated the dining experience.

What truly sets Koi: Japan Sushi apart is the exceptional staff. The team's warmth and friendliness were evident from the moment I walked on their patio. They went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my dining experience was exceptional. The staff members were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their craft. Their recommendations were spot-on, and they made me feel like a valued guest throughout my visit.

It's a hidden gem that deserves recognition. If you're seeking a gastronomic adventure that tantalizes your taste buds and leaves you with a sense of tranquility, Koi: Japan Sushi is the perfect...
