Friends brought us a treat from the Leslieville Pumps General Store & Kitchen so I can only rate on the Pumps loaded poutine with beef brisket. Overall, I'd give the poutine a 4/5. The poutine has the signature gravy and cheese curds. The online menu says there's a dark rich gravy and jus from their smoker. Was it drenched with gravy like how I like my poutines to be? Honestly, no. Since it seemed to be a bit lacking on the gravy, not all of my cheese curds were covered so I felt it to be a bit dry overall. You can see from the images that quite a few of my fries are a bit naked and dry looking. Others may be okay with this level of gravy. I just happen to like my poutines drenched. The highlight, of course, was the beef brisket. That certainly didn't disappoint. It was soft and flavourful with that classic smoky bbq taste. Overall, a pleasant experience thus ranking it 4/5 stars.

You HAVE to stop in and check out Leslieville Pumps if you're in the area. The shelfs are stocked with rare treats, pops and candies, which is definitely a throwback to your childhood. The BBQ is on point, too. I had a delicious Brisket Sandwich which is perfectly priced at $17 and will definitely make me a repeat visitor. Do yourself a favour, shop local, support the neighbourhood and benefiting from meeting two very kind owners who are trying to make a difference to the community and your belly.

My only regret is it took me so long to try this place. Corn fritters are incredible, the garlicky herby sauce would go well on anything. Veteran move by keeping the bag open for takeout as even after driving 10 mins home while eating bag fries there we’re super crispy. Brisket sandwich is great, mustard is a nice compliment. If I was to be super not picky it was a tad dry but definitely eat at this place!

This restaurant also serves as a convenience store. Selling Snacks, Tobacco, lighters/papers, and some select grocery items; like Penautbutter.

I don't often write reviews, unless a restaurant really wows me, for better, or for worse. This time it was for the better. The fries were perfectly seasoned. They were so good that I forgot to even use ketchup, and I usually have my fries with extra ketchup. Perfect light-golden fry on them, still flexible, but not at all soggy; even after walking 350m back to my truck. If you like your fries rigid, more browned, and extra crispy, ask for them well-done, but they are perfect just the way they make them. The Brisket Sandwich was also very good. The whole thing cost me a little over $23 but I eat at a wide variety of restaurants for work, and $23 is pretty standard for a Brisket Sandwich and Fries, and a good deal when the food is this good. I forgot my water, but that's on me being in a rush to get back to work, not on the owner. Looking forward to hopefully ending up here again soon, so I can try the...

Stopped by this place for lunch with my pregnant daughter. We both ordered the Veggie Delight sandwich (grossly overpriced for what it is). We waited about 5 minutes and then went up to get our order. The sandwiches were served toasted which was great but the combination of flavours had a very unpleasant, pungent taste. We were starving so didn't care that much. All of the sudden, my daughter spits the bite she had in her mouth out into a napkin and says that there is a hair in her sandwich. Thinking it was the alfalfa sprouts I took a look. Sure enough, a long, nasty hair had been cooked into her sandwich. We barely made it out of there before she threw up. We took the uneaten sandwiches up to the counter and explained the situation. They offered to comp us for another sandwich! Hello, if a customer finds a HAIR in their food, the cost of the meal should be re-imbursed because NO WAY am I eating there again. Very displeased with their customer service and a $22.87 dollar...

So what a discovery! Ive walked past this place so many times and today I decided to pop in and have a look ...and man..am I ever glad I did! Located on Queen Street by Carlaw, this little gem offers a quaint and old general store feel... Besides the variety of yummy goodies and sweets that are offered ... lo and behold... they have a phenomenal barbecue menu! For my very first try I had the bacon fritters and they did not disappoint. Crisp and fluffy with generous pieces of smokey bacon paired with an awesome creamy Creole aioli...it made for a great snack.. like a party in my mouth! Next time I'll be sure to try one of the beautifully handcrafted sandwiches or one of the many great selections of comfort food. Made with all local ingredients, it makes for a great feeling to support a business that strives to offer a nostalgic ambience and super fun and delicious food... And the friendly service was the cherry on top! Thanks guys keep up the good work.. I'll...
