My name of Vidhi and I had the most stressful and uncomfortable experience while attending the Candlelight: Best of Joe Hisaishi yesterday i.e. January 19th at 8:45 pm at metropolitan community church of Toronto.
In this concert live instrumental music was being played by 4 artists. During the concert, a continuous, loud and erratic banging noise occurred from behind my seats which alarmed me. The sound didnât stop so some audience members, along with my husband and I inquired from one of the staff member working there regarding the nature of these sounds. He told us as this building is very old and the boiler is making these sound; and they cannot really do anything about it. Additionally, he told us to talk to customer service regarding this after the concert.
After the concert, the staff member directed me to his supervisor. Who informed me about this same thing about the old building and banging loud sounds of boiler. Upon asking whether they knew about this beforehand, she told me that her boss have been working on this âsince monthsâ and the issue still havenât been fixed yet. She shared that she shared this issue with her boss this morning on her work group chat. Since months the boss knew she said and I wonder why is there continuation of hosting and selling tickets to candlelight concert.
She also casually told me that is doesnât happen all the time, but my question to her and to her was that why wasnât there any transparency about this ongoing and unfixed situation before I paid for my tickets or beforehand giving me enough time to reschedule to a different location.
I came out on snowy Sunday night with my husband to enjoy the live music of studio ghibli movies. Music makes me appreciate my life and this music has always soothed me from my traumatic experiences. I went to candlelight concert to enjoy myself but I think they should spend less money on advertisements and more money on fixing the condition of their venues for quality experience.
As a customer who is paying her hard earned money for the musical experience I feel it is my right to know beforehand about the known (since months) and possible ( as problem remain unfixed) noise interference that could occur during the event, so I could make an informed choice about whether I want to invest my time and money in such an event or not.
Such lack of transparency, even after knowing about the issue that could disturb a person who came out to attend the event at this venue provided is highly unethical. Whatâs even more shocking is that same venue still have multiple candlelight concerts lined up for this year.
Thereâs been no apology or resolution for the stressful experience due to the negligence of the authorities responsible, who chose to turn a blind eye to the issue to loud banging noise during the event. Such attitude shows that authorities hope people will understand and compromise with such interference as they have lot of money to spare. Unlike others, I do not have ample money to spent and mental framework to enjoy myself in midst of loud and erratic noise.
I wanted to share my experience to help others like me who might to want to avoid...
Read moreThis is a review about the Candle Light concert:a tribute to Ludovico Einaudi by Megan Griffith
First off, the church and the atmosphere were beautiful. We really liked the intimate feel of the venue and the lighting. But this is where the positive ends.
We came to the show expecting to see a pianist who was at least somewhat prepared to play the Ludovico pieces. When Megan came out, she announced that she had been practicing these pieces for only a week. Right from the first song, that became very apparent. There were constant mistakes and missed notes in every piece. This was on top of regular pauses mid song to find where she is on the sheet music. It was apparent that she was not familiar with Ludovico or his music, and to be frank I've seen children's recitals that were better than this paid event. Ludovico would be embarrassed.
We left after 5 songs as the atmosphere just became too awkward, and this led to many more people getting up and following us out.
After the event, we contacted fever several times, including management, and no one has responded or acknowledged our concerns or tried to make it right in any way. I can see that the show is being advertised again now in a few weeks, but I would highly recommend to stay away.
Fever should be ashamed for putting this show on and charging people. They should also be ashamed at their poor customer service. Will not attend another show....
Read moreI recently attended a candlelight concert at Metropolitan Community Church, and the experience was truly memorable. The music was beautiful, the atmosphere intimate, and the overall ambiance created by the candlelight setting was magical. It was a lovely way to enjoy live music in a unique and peaceful environment.
That said, the temperature inside the church was a major downside. It was incredibly hotâat least 10 times hotter than it was outside, and this was during the middle of a sweltering summer evening. The lack of ventilation or air conditioning made it pretty uncomfortable to sit through, which unfortunately took away from the enjoyment of an otherwise fantastic event.
If youâre planning to attend an event here during warmer months, I highly recommend dressing light and bringing a handheld fan or some water. Hopefully, the church considers upgrading its cooling systems in the future because the space has so much potential.
Overall, great concert, beautiful venue, but be prepared...
