Liberty Soho - The New Hot Spot in the Village

I recently discovered Liberty Soho, and I must say, it has quickly become my favorite spot in the village. This trendy establishment offers a fantastic atmosphere that captures the essence of the neighborhood perfectly. As soon as I stepped inside, I could feel the vibrant energy and knew I was in for a memorable experience.

One of the highlights of Liberty Soho is its inviting patio, which is perfect for people-watching. Whether you're enjoying a sunny afternoon or a lively evening, the patio provides a great vantage point to observe the bustling village scene while savoring delicious food and drinks.

Speaking of food, the calamari at Liberty Soho is an absolute must-try. It was cooked to perfection, with a delightful crispness and flavorful seasoning. This dish alone made my visit to Liberty Soho worthwhile. Additionally, the menu offers a variety of other enticing options, ensuring there's something for everyone's taste.

Liberty Soho is also an excellent spot to catch a game while enjoying drinks. The atmosphere is vibrant, and the attentive staff ensures that you have a great time while cheering for your favorite team. It's the ideal place to relax, unwind, and soak in the excitement of the game.

To make the most of your experience at Liberty Soho, it's best to make reservations in advance. This place is quite popular, and having a reservation guarantees you a spot. If you find yourself without a reservation, fear not! Sitting at the bar is a fantastic alternative. Not only do you get a front-row seat to watch the skilled bartenders in action, but it also provides a cozy and intimate setting.

During my visit, I had the pleasure of being greeted by Hailey and Alice, the talented and friendly bartenders. Their warm and welcoming demeanor instantly made me feel at home. They were both incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and offered fantastic recommendations. Their enthusiasm and passion for their craft truly elevated my visit, and their excellent service added a special touch to the overall experience at Liberty Soho.

When it comes to transportation, Liberty Soho is conveniently located. If you're planning to drive, there is street parking available as well as a nearby parking lot, though they do require a fee. Alternatively, Uber or walking are excellent options, especially if you want to fully immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the village. Additionally, for those relying on public transportation, there are bus stops conveniently located right outside the establishment.

In conclusion, Liberty Soho has quickly established itself as the new go-to spot in the village. With its great atmosphere, fantastic patio for people-watching, delicious calamari, and excellent selection of drinks, it's an ideal destination for any occasion. Remember to make reservations in advance or grab a seat at the bar for a more intimate experience. And if you're lucky enough to be served by Hailey or Alice, you're in for a truly memorable visit. Cheers to...

My first time at this location was quite disappointing, and certainly avoidable. Arrived in the early afternoon, asked for a table outside. After being sat at the table, noticed the table was quite dirty with food/drink stains. Server came up and placed coasters and glasses of water on the dirty table. I asked that the table be wiped down. after the table wipe down, was asked if I knew what I wanted to drink. Asked the server to give me a few minutes to look at the menu. 15 minutes went by, no server came back. Servers walking by and serving the tables in front and behind me, but seems my table was invisible. Went to another server to ask that the manager on duty be sent to my table. A few minutes later a different server showed up at my table, not a manager as I requested. Fine. I placed my drink and food order. The drink had to be sent back as it was missing ingredients, and was too sweet. The new drink came back watered down. This specific drink is about correct proportions of ingredients, and should not have been watered down to reduce the sweetness, and was $18. Food arrived and it was quite good, but $18 is a bit pricey for a salad. Again waited for the table to be cleared once I finished my meal, and then waited again for my bill.

It is my view some training on managing tables, observation and awareness needs to occur. It was not busy at the time and there were many servers. If my server was busy and could not take my drink and food order, then another server should have noticed my menu on my table, no drink and no food on my table, asked if I have ordered, and if I had not, then go and find my server and alert them to this fact for more efficient service. This location really let me down, and again, completely avoidable. I hope management will see this review and take steps to ensure this does not happen with...

Liberty Soho, Liberty Village – Patio Visit - July 24th, 2025

Finally got a table for two on the Liberty Soho patio. It’s the sister restaurant of Ruby Soho. The atmosphere was lively. Inside was packed, and the patio had a good buzz. Great for people-watching and sipping a beer.

Cocktails? I’d give them a 6 out of 10. The Old Fashioned was missing bitters, and all the drinks tasted more like mocktails than cocktails. They looked nice but came off watered down. More brunch buffet than bar-quality.

Food? Mixed results. The battered fish tacos were clearly made with frozen fillets. I could have made the same thing at home with a box from the freezer aisle and some chopped veggies. Not awful, just uninspired.

The big beef rib was better. Decent size, but bland taste, literally saved by the au jus on the side. The real winner was the fries underneath. Crispy, seasoned well, and tossed with herbs, diced peppers, and onions.

But the worst part? A black poodle wandered over not once, but twice, and put its front paws on my thigh, licking my thigh, and begging for food. It was on a very loose leash and the owner didn’t seem to care. I had to say something. Toronto patios allow dogs, but this one wasn’t trained. It mirrored the owner: no home training , no social awareness, and no manners.

Cost? It came to about $75 per person. Two drinks each, one shared rib dish, a couple tacos. No dessert. No extras. Tip not included. You’re mostly paying for the branding and the Liberty Village location.

Overall? Go if you’re after a patio seat and don’t mind average food with inflated prices. But if you’re looking for a real dining experience with standout flavors, look elsewhere. This place banks on location and aesthetics, and...

I’ve been to Ruby Soho at Portland and King, and Liberty Soho is a pretty similar vibe and interior that has its own character in the Liberty Village neighbourhood. The front door was pretty heavy to open and made it feel like the place was actually closed. Thankfully one of the staff saw us trying to get in, and opened the door for us. She admitted herself that the door had this problem - so that might be good to look into. I had the Wagyu Smash Burger with yam fries. The yam fries is a $3 up charge which wasn’t something that I was informed of - so that’s good to get servers to mention that to guests. Otherwise, it’s a lot of fries and comes with a chipotle aioli which is nice. When I think of smash burgers, I think of a thin patty that gets a lot of burnt/ crispy edges to it as it cooks close to high heat. That wasn’t the case with this. Overall, it was a decent experience and wouldn’t mind coming back when I’m in the area again.
