London Gate Pub — Restaurant in Toronto

This is what the area needs, a great British pub - British myself & know what a decent pub should be. The interior is to a very high standard, the staff are lovely. I hope it is a success. There is ample parking, the area is safe. You can see that the family running the pub, which is a big plus & means it isn’t just another corporate location, really have invested into it. There are quite a few big offices & home neighbourhoods nearby, hopefully they all take advantage of this pub - which is very different from your typical Canadian bar. And if they secure a big screen for big football & fight events, it will be very popular.

It may be cheesy, but there is room to add a few more uniquely British bits that would be good for photos/social media. The Britishness of this place will draw people in, take full advantage of it.

The choice of drinks are great & served how you want. I think the food is a little expensive, especially compared to the portion sizes. The tikka kebab (needs more spice/heat though & your expected sauces like chilli/mint/mango), beyond burger, fish & chips (didn’t see if they do British baked beans or gravy?) are all nice. I didn’t see any desserts?

I’d like to see a lamb doner kebab introduced, a British staple after some drinks - and something that nowhere else in the city does right. The area doesn’t have any Indian places close by, so some more Indian curries would be a boost - another British staple alongside beer drinking. It would also be nice to have a little British tuck shop with British treats.

This is definitely worth making your ‘local’ if you work or live nearby. They’ve just opened up, and obviously know what they are doing, which says a lot about the time and graft they’ve put in to make this a...

Great big restaurant with lots of seating and plenty of parking. Upon entering the restaurant I was greeted by a very friendly bartender Janette who also introduced me to another server Heather and the owner Harry. I immediately felt right at home, dining by myself. I was just going to have a glass of wine so then the bartender recommended a lovely Cabernet! I wasn't going to eat and didn't even get a chance to look at the menu when the bartender had made an awesome suggestion. She suggested trying the owners' homemade butter chicken! I am so glad I did! So much so, that I didn't want to eat it all in one sitting, I wanted to bring it home and have it again for dinner! This was one of the best butter chicken dishes I have ever had in my life, with just the right spice and great portion size. Served with naan bread on the side! I will definitely be going back although not a local, I was in the area and hadn't been in this restaurant in years since it was under the other name. They will be having live music starting this weekend. If you're going for a drink, you may as well bring your appetite. You will be pleasantly surprised! Great place for lunch or dinner. We've been several times since pandemic opening and have been impressed each and every time. Don't believe the recently posted negative reviews - they don't reflect our multiple experiences. Fantastic selection of beers and great food: Delicious butter chicken had loads of tender chicken breast chunks and the sauce was perfect. Photos on Google are accurate reflection Best ever tandoori flatbread! Made with sufficient chicken to ensure every bite has a decent amount of meat. Perfectly spiced (less heat than the butter chicken) with nice drizzle of homemade raita Today we tried the Beef Dip. Delicious. Tender beef slices, perfectly fried onions (sweet, tender, not greasy) on a fluffy and crusty baguette that was easy to bite into. The jus was authentic (not bovril or bouillon or gravy) and added 💯 to the overall flavor. French fries reminded me of fresh cut, homemade from the UK. Crispy on the outside, soft, "floury" on the inside with good flavour. Adult kids tried several new beers and really enjoyed them.
