This place has SO gone downhill since FreshCity bought them out. Not only the quality of the baked goods and bread, but the people behind the counter at the Queen West location are so rude, indifferent to customers, never smile, shouldn't be in customer service. They ALSO stopped honouring the stamped "loyalty" cards (which do take a while to build up 10 stamps for just cupcakes/cookies mind you). They actually started to argue with me about not honouring my completed, stamped loyalty card. Over a bloody cupcake. Their name is all over the card. Sure they might not be many even aware the old Mabel's used to offer them, but it's sure the same store, honour the cards.

After 2 people came to look up and down my card (and me for that matter), I got the treat. Left angry, humiliated-feeling, always disappointment leaving that place now. It's the principle and poor customer service that burns me up with that place now. Like c'mon. I go elsewhere now, thank goodness for Bom Dia down the street after Dufferin.

Don't...

The crossisants are personally the best I have ever had, and, if you are from the area perhaps you already agree and know about their delicious pastries. It does get busy but don't let the line discourage you. The people, percievably especially those who work there, are friendly helpful (knowledge of product selection) and efficient (fast) It is hard not to give them five stars yet be aware the prices may reflect, such, delicious food made in and sold in downtown Toronto and the costs associated. Example, generally not inclusive, $6-7 "coffee", and $30-40* for 3-5* people pastries etc, however don't let those limit examples limit your experiences and you decide. If you can't find parking there is underground, pay parking at 36 Abell St (short minutes* walk) Thank you for you reading and consideration, peace happiness good health and...

I wish I loved this place... This is close to my home and work so I sometimes visit this place for coffee, breads or snacks. I tried egg toast, egg muffin, blueberry tart, croissant and other breads so far but none of them was on point. The breads with eggs weren’t balanced at all and the smell of mushroom and egg make it smell like vomit(I’m not trying to criticize, that’s what I thought after the first bite). Croissant and other pastries are never crispy, it’s more like soggy. Blueberry tart just smell like old fridge. I can see this place has a lot of potential(or had) and definitely can be better. That’s why I visited this place so many times and tried to find something, but now it’s time to find another bakery. +1 star for nice staffs...

Mabel’s has gone downhill over the last few years. Their customer service is often apathetic at best. Just today a woman that was behind me in line was served before me, because the employee knew her by name. I asked for 100g of lox and was severely shorted when I weighed it at home. When they’re good, their products can be excellent. Their breads and croissants can be some of the best you’ve ever tried. But they’re often burned, as seen on a loaf my partner brought home yesterday, or like the bagels so often are, completely squished and misshapen from rough handling. For the high price you pay, (~$6 per loaf), you’d expect more care and attention to detail, going into their products and customer service.

They never really know how to make a good cup of coffee, bake goods are okay. So…Today, I ordered a flat white. And coffee is supposed to make your day, but this one just destroyed my whole mood! Reminds me why I should make my own coffee at home. So I asked them to make me a new one, they made me another terrible cup of coffee placed on a cup with a broken lid! Which I think was a personal attack to me by the barista. I think she wants me to drown for asking a new cup of expensive coffee Hey! Its not my fault you don't know how to do your job! Anyways, there are over 10 bakeries in the area, so guess we will never see each other again! 👋

Overpriced for the portions, offerings, and quality. I got a small container of chickpea salad that was mostly chickpeas with some red onion and tomato, maybe 2 olives, and a dollop of feta cheese (see picture) and it cost me over 11 dollars. The service is also so slow and convoluted. It takes forever to get a prepackaged salad and yet there are always like 4 people working at a time. The people who work there are generally nice and polite, but I think management should reassess the flow of things because it’s not good.
