If you are looking for a special place to share with yourself, with family or friends - Nunu Ethiopian Fusion cuisine sets the mood. On my first visit to Nunu, I settled by the window to enjoy a traditional Jebena (ጀበና) coffee. I was treated to the sights, sounds and aromas of pan roasting coffee beans directly in front of me. This would later transform into the liquid elixir known as Jebena coffee. The traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony truly engages all the senses: the sight and sound of the roasting beans clanking against the metal pan, the smell of the roasting beans wafting heavenward, and touch - as one waves the steam over to the face to more fully appreciate its heat and aroma. Once the roasting was accomplished, the beans were then taken to the back to be ground and brewed. The Jebena coffee showed the strength of an Italian espresso, with a softer, more rounded edge or finish to it. The Ethiopian Jebena coffee is fully full-bodied but without the brazen kick of an espresso - the Jebena coffee showing more refinement and restraint of character. Visually, as this was my first time partaking of Jebena coffee, I was amazed by the sight of the incense dancing in every direction (accompanying the coffee). Together with the very friendly service, stylish decor, dim lights, and African trance music in the background, it seemed like I was transported to another world. On my second visit to Nunu, I ordered the Beef Couscous (unfortunately, they were out of the Lamb Couscous). It was the best couscous I have tasted to-date: light, fluffy, and flavourful. Really, really good. On the third visit, a good friend and I enjoyed a Vegetarian Platter which was more than ample for two. The place was packed on a summer Friday evening. The atmosphere was hopping, lively, and conducive to allow for all manner of conversation. On the fourth visit, my dear friend and I arrived on an autumn Saturday late night. In the peace of the dimmed, tranquil interior (having the whole place to ourselves), it was a joy to introduce and share in the magic of the Jebena coffee ceremony together. It was the perfect place to spend a most engaging evening. Thank you Nunu Ethiopian Fusion.

I went on a Saturday with 2 other friends and it was a full house. It took a while to put in our order as they kept saying they were short staffed. Fine, it happens. It took a few minutes for our beers to arrive. Okay. Then, people who got seated after us and ordered after us got their food first. By the time our food arrived, the people who got seated after us had already finished their food and left while we were still waiting for our food. It took 40-50 minutes!!!!!!!!! The one staff ended up just sitting outside with a beer. So. Much. LOL! Eventually, our food came. Mine wasn't spicy at all and I asked for spicy. The portions are small and it's expensive for what you're getting. The price is different from their website. I wouldn't go back to eat, but I would just get their coffee to go.

Tonight was my first visit to NUNU and my first time having Ethiopian food. Wow! Flavours I have never experienced. Everything was so delicious. We started with an onion soup, a salad with a samosa and some toast with home made cheese. My favourite was our entree. We were brought a HUGE plate with an array of different vegetables, meats all on this amazing bread I have never had before. The entree is eaten with bare hands using the bread to pick up the amazing ingredients. The bread is like no bread I have ever had before. It is kind of like a cross between a crepe/pancake but not quite. Amazing. The owners Nunu and Chris were great hosts! Such a unique experience. I can't wait to go back!

Oh, Nunu. Where do I even begin? My culinary journey to central Africa has, until now, been a vast, unexplored territory, a land filled with whispers of fragrant spices and delicious stews. My only previous encounter with Ethiopian food was a fleeting, almost-mythical experience at a food fest years ago—a beef and veggie sample so good it haunted my dreams for what felt like an eternity. Then, Nunu appeared. Like a beacon in the night, a savory mirage on Queen Street, it called to me. I took the plunge and ordered the Doro Wat. I mean, what is a Doro Wat, you ask? It's a spicy chicken dish so legendary it could probably settle international disputes. The smell from the container on the ride home was so intoxicating I almost swerved off the road. It was like the chicken itself was serenading me, promising a flavour explosion. And oh, did it deliver. The Doro Wat was a masterpiece. The chicken was cooked to perfection, bathing in a sauce that was a symphony of spices—spicy, rich, and so satisfying. It was a flavour party in my mouth, and every bite was an absolute triumph. Now, about the injera. Bless its heart. It’s a brave and noble flatbread, but for me, it was a culinary puzzle. It had a texture that reminded me of a rubbery crepe that was trying its best to be a blanket for the delicious chicken. It's not you, injera, it's me. This is a strictly personal preference, but my taste buds and injera's texture just didn't get along. The fact that the chicken was so good that it still made the meal amazing despite the injera speaks volumes. I’m already planning my return. This was just the warm-up. I've heard tales of their spicy beef tibs, a dish so good it can win anyone's heart. I’ll be back to dine in soon, ready to embrace the full Nunu experience—and maybe, just maybe, I’ll learn to love injera...

Exceptional Dining Experience at Nunu Restaurant

I recently dined at Nunu Restaurant, and I must say, it was an absolute delight from start to finish. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted by an incredibly friendly and courteous owner and staff. Their warm welcome instantly set the tone for what turned out to be a memorable dining experience.

The ambiance of Nunu Restaurant is unmatched, and a large part of that is due to the incredible incense they burn throughout the establishment. The aroma wafting through the air was simply mesmerizing, creating an atmosphere that was both inviting and relaxing.

Aside from the wonderful atmosphere, the food at Nunu Restaurant was exquisite. Every dish was prepared with utmost care and attention to detail, resulting in flavors that were nothing short of extraordinary. From appetizers to desserts, each bite was a culinary delight.

What truly sets Nunu Restaurant apart, however, is the genuine hospitality of the owner and staff. Their dedication to providing top-notch service and ensuring that every guest feels welcomed and appreciated is truly commendable.

Overall, my experience at Nunu Restaurant exceeded all expectations. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a dining experience that is not only delicious but also infused with warmth and hospitality. Five...
