I've never written a review before but I can't let this go. We have frequented this restaurant for years. Food is decent, service was always up and down, but I have to write something because of what happened today. We were a family of elderly parents two young kids and 3 adults. We finished a set of banchan and asked if we could get one more set. We had stacked the empty dishes to better help the servers. When the server came back he had a scowl on his face and warned us “if you stack the dishes again, we won’t give you any more!”. We were shocked by the comment and attitude. We told him that we didn’t need to be scolded for something we thought we did as a kind gesture. All he needed to do was ask and explain why we should not stack the dishes (which if it is such a big deal it should be explained while handing them out in the first place). The server developed an even bigger attitude and started yelling at us all. At that point we asked for the management. The manager came out and tried his best to apologize but the server was still there yelling at us over the managers shoulder. The management could not even “manage” him. When we explained that he chastised us with attitude for stacking the dishes, the server then said “you want attitude? That’s nothing, I can show you attitude”. The owner at this point came out but just stood and watched as the manager unsuccessfully tried to deal with the server. The owner finally spoke in korean and told him to calm down and the server stormed to the back, but continued to work around the restaurant (appetite killer). The owner apologized for our bad experience, and that the server didn’t handle it properly but that we should be understanding because he is a boy and therefore we should be understanding of a boy’s temperament. That was it. That was her response. Bad service can be forgiven if the food is good enough, bad management is a big red flag, but if an owner can condone such behaviour and take no action whatsoever (server continued to scowl around, and no compensation towards the customers), then this place should not be in business period. ...
Read moreLocated in a strip plaza that’s a hole in the wall. If you don’t know what you’re looking for you could miss this hidden gem for some of the best Korean food I’ve ever had. The dining room is quite tiny and indoor dining capacity (pre covid) was not the greatest to begin with, more often than not will have to wait in line for a table. Parking space is also limited in the immediate plaza and be cautious of parking to the west side of the parking lot near the furniture store as the owner there will rightfully let you know those spots are for his store’s customers only or you’ll risk a ticket/ tow. Private washrooms on the premise for dine in customers only.
Seafood pancake is among the, if not, the best I’ve ever had and this was also a shared sentiment with other friends I have recommended this restaurant to. Kimchi fried rice is also very delicious choice but our favourite dish is by far the lettuce wrap combos served here. Since the onset of the pandemic, we have been relegated to take out / delivery only and the food is very well packed in secured containers to lock in freshness and keep organized. Not the most environmentally friendly however, but the food remains top notch and perfect comfort food when we are craving for Korean cuisine. Menu is relatively limited in terms of variety, but every dish we have ever ordered has been very tasty. The side dishes here are also among some of the best in terms of variety and taste that we have had the pleasure of enjoying. Definitely recommend giving them a try if you’ve got a favourite Korean restaurant to compare and they may just change your...
Read moreMy partner and I decided to have dinner when we were in Scarborough running some errands, and Korean is one of our favorite cuisines so we decided to give this place a try.
We were lucky to be there early because when we walked in there were only people seated at one other table, but by the time we ordered and our food arrived the place was already packed. We can see why too, because what came out of the kitchen was amazing. Each smell made us increasingly excited for our meal.
We both ordered the Bibimbap, and it was the hottest stone bowl either of us have ever gotten at a restaurant. Our very last bites were still hot, and I’m not a very quick eater! Everything was absolutely delicious. The egg was perfectly sunny side up with glistening yolk. The bean sprouts were chunky and added such a great texture. Oh and the condiment tray with kimchi, green beans, eggplant, glass noodles… ugh everything was sooo good and we plan to return to try as many things on the menu as we can. I am definitely getting the bulgogi next time, although it’ll be hard to not get the Bibimbap again! We also discussed returning on a cold day for some stew.
The service was also impeccable. It seems small and possibly family run, and I adore supporting those businesses!
I definitely recommend this little restaurant. It is very unassuming and you’d probably miss it if you blinked while driving by, and I have found over the years that my favorite places to eat look just like that. The very best food comes from small kitchens and big...
