Was skeptic coming here seeing the latest 2 reviews, but I’m always up for a patty jerk and oxtail. At first glance not the prettiest shop by any means, the fish tanks could use a rinse, but the steel drum bbq outside with the scent of jerk and spice in the air, I was hoping not to be disappointed. Ordered oxtail R&P and spicy tinnels patty. Jerk chicken wasn’t ready (I arrived at 1030am) no problem. Servers were not rude but they weren’t on their hands and knees nor should they. Oxtail was great flavour it had all the umami and sticky finger goodness after sucking the bones (no DD) but the rice and peas R&P were amazing fluffy soft peas and just soaking up the gravy perfectly. I find other places miss the rice either too hard or too mushy, the rice here makes it a repeat for me. No coleslaw I didn’t ask if they served it I just asked for a small oxtail, it came with some nicely steamed veg . Overall worth a try for sure coming back for the jerk!
I think the other reviewers complaining were just soft, check this place out just show love, kindness and...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant with some friends, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, going above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. They even gave us a complimentary bowl of soup to warm us up while we were sitting outside in the cold – talk about excellent customer service!
The prices at this restaurant were also very reasonable, especially considering the generous portions we received. But the real star of the show was the food itself. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted fresh and full of flavor. I especially enjoyed the jerk chicken with the spicy patty.
If you are in the area and looking for a quick bite, this is the place to go boys and gals. Here is a photo we took with the amazing staff. Thank you for...
Read moreI have been going to L&P Village Green probably close to a year now. Its the best Jamaican restaurant I have experienced in Toronto. The food is consistently good, flavourful and authentically Jamaican. When I discovered that ackee & saltfish, boiled ground provisions like yellow yam and green bananas are on the menu everyday, that was a game changer for me. Laverne makes the best steamed fish too! When I ate their food the first time and didn't feel sick after, I rejoiced! They make their own seasonal juices too including sorrel, pineapple, mango/carrot and june plum juices. Soooo good! Wonderful staff! Excellent service! Any menu choice is worth every penny! Go to this restaurant when you are craving the real taste of Jamaica. Like me, you will probably become a customer for life. You will not be...
