On March 20th, 2021, me and my family, visited McDonald’s at this particular location: 1966 Eglinton Ave E, Toronto, ON M1L 2M6. We had already placed and paid for our order in-person. While waiting to receive our meal, we had complete view of the kitchen and how the meals were being prepared at this location, meaning we could see the employees preparing the food and packaging it. First of all, although all staff were wearing masks, none, including the staff preparing food, cashier, Supervisor / Team Lead, etc. at this location, none were wearing gloves. I saw one staff preparing cooked meals with his bare hands, touching the burger buns, the lettuce, cooked burger patties and wiping hands on his clothes before moving on to preparing the next meals ordered by other clients, without washing hands. We are a family who eats either chicken or the fish filet and when staff touch other meat with the same hands / mix utensils with other meat products, we are unable to eat the food. We found this extremely unhygienic and when I asked one staff about the hygiene protocol, “the protocol is not to wear gloves and staff are washing their hands” and my question is as a consumer how do I know the staff member has not contracted COVID? Washing hands is not going to help if the person has contracted COVID!!! Do I need to wait 72 hours before I eat the cooked food? Washing hands is one of the ways, just like wearing masks to prevent the spread of this disease, it’s not 100% protection. When I asked the same question about this unhygienic situation we experienced to the lead staff / supervising individual, he said, “we don’t wear gloves and staff wash their hands.” I was shocked and disgusted by the ways our meals were prepared and did not feel like eating the food anymore. We asked for a refund, which we received, and left the place. However, this goes beyond receiving a refund. This is a health risk and logically thinking about this, using common sense this protocol in place that this location has is not hygienic at all and is one of the major causes that not only staff but also the consumers could contract COVID. I have visited Tim Horton’s and Subway, way before COVID hit all of us, and at both these food chains, staff were wearing gloves when preparing meals. In fact, I visited a Tim Horton’s today as well and the staff were wearing gloves. I find it odd that McDonald’s is finding it ok to prepare food with bare hands during COVID times. Since I have a very unpleasant experience on my last visit 6 months ago. I stopped visiting this restaurant. However, when I began to visit again at the beginning of March 2024. It changed a lot. The foods are fresh and hot meals are really hot (unlike before, it was cold sometimes). The girls (staff) are very polite and well trained. The restaurant is clean. I have noticed that they have new staff and they are very nice. Well done, and please keep up the good job! 👍
I have a very bad experience today at this location. The South Asia looking guy said he is the manager of this shop. I'm not sure that . He has a very bad attitude. I have my mobile order to deliver to my desk. It wasn't delivered to me. The notice of "meet you at desk # " was disappeared at my APP. I went to the counter and proved them with my email receipt . This guy told me that he has called mant time and you didn't show up. He never has this order to deliver to the desk. Then, he gave the cold food to me and said, "Here is your food." Do you want or not want it. Ha... is it really McDonald's serves here?
First, I ordered the food to deliver to my desk number, and I don't have my order number. A notice was confirmed to meet me at the desk instead. Second, why did the app notice disappear at my APP without food delivery? Third, how a manager/ a good staff member of McDonald has a rude attitude like this (sounds loud to talk to your customers, ( here is your food, you want or not want?) 😵💫
This is used to be the best McDonald's location to me. Even the food I have discovered, not frsh sometimes (out of expiry time). They'll change it with apologies. Food delivery was late, but it was delivered by staff who would say "sorry for wasting." However, this is the first time I've experienced this guy's attitude. He is rude and unprofessional. He'll ruin the whole team members' efforts.
The other staff are nice usually. Positive attitude!
I wrote up this review, and I wish other potential customers could notice when they put their APP orders. The owner of this McDonald's location could alert to their staff's attitude and provide them with proper training.

Read moreI consider this place when I am on lunch. They usually have great service. Last time I was here they messed up my order because I ordered a Double Big Mac meal, but they gave me a Big Mac. Not a problem, I just ate the Big Mac. It seems they do not double check to make sure the order is right before handing it off to the customer, which I think is very important and saves everyone the hassel. They have done this on numerous occasions. This particular time going through the drive through, I was asked to wait, which is fine. The employee that came with my order asked me what did I order, I asked him kindly to deal with the other car first. The employee who failed to state his name rudely asked me why and made it a big deal which I think ot wasn't, because he still had to walk back the same way. The employee ended up arguing with me which as the customer, made me a bit upset. I requested to speak with a Manager. The Manager and I talked about the customer service that was provided and he ended up not even caring how his employee acted. This complete disregard for quality of customer service not only from the employee, but from a Manager makes me wonder what are they trying to accomplish at this facility. Initially I basically just asked kindly for the employee to give me a second and to come back with my order after the other car, so he can take the time to make sure my order was correct (because he doesnt know what I ordered and he did not care to double check the order). This all amounted to a waste of my time and a waste of everyone elses time. Will not be coming back here due to the lack of quality in the customer service. My review is based specifically on this situation. I also personally think the manager that I spoke to is not fully qualified enough to manage employees and to deal with customer service dissatisfaction, but that is my opinion.
