Leslieville Cheese Market Inc — Local services in Toronto

I'm definitely not one of those people that swears by "the little local shops" and hates on the Loblaws' of the world, but when it comes to getting my cheese, there's only the Leslieville Cheese Market for me. For two reasons:

First, it's not necessarily a matter of the cheese selection itself (which might sound like a weird thing to say when giving a cheese shop 5 stars), but it's about the staff's knowledge and assistance in navigating the cheese selection. Most of the time, I don't even bother going in knowing exactly what I want because I know the staff is going to figure out exactly what I want (even if I didn't realize it myself!). My favourite thing to do is go in and ask for "something interesting". I've yet to be disappointed with anything they give me. Plus, they'll eagerly offer you samples so you can get a sense of what you're getting.

Our cheese plates are always the star of any evening because we rely on the expertise and guidance of the staff here.

Second, the cheesecake. They offer this cheesecake in a little plastic container.....

I went into this cheese shop last week to grab a nice triple creme, and was blown away by the friendly demeanor and quality service of the staff there. I've been to many cheese shops in this city and while others may have a wider selection, you would be hard pressed to find better service. I found what I was looking for, was informed of others in the style I wanted that might be available soon, was offered a taste (which not everybody does anymore), and was delighted that the staff cracked open a fresh wheel for me even though I wasn't buying very much. Outstanding. I also got some cheese curds which were among the best I've had, and a beautiful smoked cheddar that took my cheeseburgers to the next level. A treasure of a cheese shop in Leslieville. They have a very discerning acumen in their choice of cheeses - while plentiful in variety, they have chosen their stock with careful thoughtfulness and pride. Only the best for their customers, and the staff have an erudite knowledge of each cheese in their shop.

The heavenly grilled cheese sandwiches are made in shop as you wait and come with a delectable range of toppings and dips. The fig jam they offer is ambrosia!

I cannot sing this shop's praises enough. Its warm and welcoming atmosphere makes you feel instantly at home, and they treat their customers like family.
