Update - came back here few days after labour day for more samosas and sweets. The samosas are now $0.75 cents each …. Ordered 1lb of motichoor ladoo- it was good. So came here because I have heard a lot about this place through others - aunties in the area of course :) ** there was no halal signs so cannot confirm if the meat was halal and I only ordered vegetarian. So - I ordered 10 samosas. 2 Chanda Bhatoora. 0.5lbs of mixed barfi. Bill was $25 The samosas - pretty darn good. Will highly recommend. The barfi - was just okay. Maybe a little overly sweet for my taste. But my parents loved it. Overall, Neither so great neither so horrible. I mean for $10/lb maybe I was expecting more? Now these channa Bhattura - hardest review to explain. I personally did not like the Channas. They have this different taste that I could not acclimate myself too. BUT the parents Loved it 🤷🏽‍♀️ they enjoyed having that different unique masala taste. Maybe hence all the auntie referrals! Bhattura were fresh but oily. Honestly - they should have samplers out front lol The store also sells a lot of items on the side - I was going to grab a few but when asked they seem more expensive compared to just picking them up from another store. Ex. Pani poori box was $5.00. I can buy the exact same box. Same brand. Same size from Indian grocery for $2.50. There are barely any prices on the items so you gotta ask. Location was clean. It was busy. Initially the customer service wasn’t that great. Just too busy and trying to accommodate. I made my order first but wasn’t served first. But then once My order was completed. The individual did apologize. So I do appreciate it.

The best place in Toronto for Bengali sweets. Every time I am in North York, I stop by here for samosa and chai. The savouries are always fresh. They have great Bengali sweet selection. everyone is a fan of this small restaurant in North York. There is always thali. The place serves killer Indian thali at affordable prices. The service is fast & quick, but may not be as friendly. A small dining area to help you savour the food. They also have good selection of gravies and sides for take away. They also sell pickles and other snacks. Such a lovely place to eat from as long as you do not have to interact with the staff. That is the only thing that will spoil the experience

Amazingly awesome and fresh. We tried different places in the GTA and this place is definitely the best. I love sweets so it's easy for me to rate then 5/5 but the reason they got awesome review from me and others in the past is because everyone is able to notice the difference in quality, quantity and value. Their prices are very modest. The service was good (not a typical restaurant set up, more like cafe) but the sweets are the best. Rest of the stuff is okay. I didn't get to try a whole lot of other food. July 3rd 2017, Another visit! It's the same consistency and same quality. Definitely a must try place.

Update on my last review 2 years back. Visited after a long time on Jan 03, 2024. The elderly person on the counter was serving me, my order was packed and waiting for billing. Suddenly a kitchen staff arrives with a phone.and handed phone to the senior. He doesnt bother to acknowledge me with a gesture, will be back soon and went inside. I waited for 5 mins and left the store. No was no one at the counter. No concept of basic customer service. In Indian culture customer is God and this store doesnt deserve our business. Will not be surpriced to see this store close permanently.

Previous review Used to love this place. They increase the price every now and then and consistently decline the food and sweet quality. I used to visit them every week for past 5 years, now only visit if I feel lazy to drive. Besan ladoo taste raw. Motichur laddo is stale. Chicken sheek kebab size is shrinking (wont be surprised if it becomes nugget size) even after price increase. Samosa is always bland and pretty expensive given the size and filling. Pakodas are always cold. Kalakand, Sandesh are watery to intentionally increase weight as sweets are sold by weight. All items are expensive given the quality. The senior owner is always grumpy. The way they are managing the store I am sure they lost loyal customers like us. There are much better options in Scarborough with less or similar pricing and way...

Went to Mistaan a few weeks ago on a weekend to order some food for lunch with my family. We have been going to Mistaan for more than 15 years now, but this weekend we tried to order something new. I have a food allergy which is deadly and always make sure to ask wherever I go the ingredients of the food I am ordering. I asked the girl at the counter the ingredients of the one food item that we ordered to ensure there was no nuts or lentils, since I am allergic. The female staff member assured us there were no lentils or nuts in the products we ordered when I asked as well as when my family member asked separately. When I got home and had the food I had a severe food reaction, and had to go to the hospital. We were notified that my reaction was to the lentils in the food product. When my family member called l and tried to confront them that they gave wrong information, one of the owners who picked up the phone screamed at my relative that they were lying and that staff had told us there were lentils and then hung up. That owner at Mistaan shows no compassion and is just too focused on making money. My family, and I who were once loyal customers to Mistaan will not ever be returning. If you have a severe food allergy, please do not order food from Mistaan. They will lie to you about the ingredients just to make a sale and apparently do not care about the well-being of...
