We came here as a family (including extended family) of 14 last Saturday for dim sum lunch (sorry for the late review - got busy and forgot).
The interior/decorations of the Crown Prince Fine Dining and Banquet restaurant is very fancy. Even the washrooms were pretty darn fancy. The only thing going for the food was the portion sizes. Nowhere on the dim sum side of the menu does it list the prices of each of the sizes of the dishes. Couldn't find the dim sum prices on the other side of the menu. We did the math later, and each dish came out to be $8 each -- no matter the size. Expensive as heck.
While we were ordering our dim sum dishes, some older employee in a grey suit tried to forcefully upsell us this deep fried eggplant dish that costed $12 for only 4 tiny pieces. Yeah, no thanks. He kept on insisting and my mom had to shut him down. We were already going to pay alot due to the fact that the family member who was hosting this family gathering was playing as the "Game Master" and had "planned things ahead of time". Well, we learned the food wasn't as good as the reviews said it was.
The "Game Master" had ordered a variety of dishes that were not diabetic friendly (for the family members who are diabetic), so they could barely eat anything. She ordered 3x Seafood & Pork Dumpling (Siu Mai), 3x Steamed Shrimp Dumpling (Har Gow), 4x Steamed Beef Balls, 3x Steamed Baby Octopus w/ Curry Sauce, 3x Steamed Chicken Feet w/ Abalone Sauce, 2x Steamed Spareribs w/ Black Bean Sauce, 2x Beef Tripe w/ Ginger & Onion, 1x Honeycomb Tripe w/ Satay Sauce, 1x Steamed Bun w/ Custard & Egg Yolk, 4x Sticky Rice w/ Meat Wrapped In Lotus Leaf, 4x Pan Fried Turnip Cake, 4x Steamed Shrimp & Veggie Rice Roll, 4x Beef Rice Roll w/ Period Black Truffle, 1x Steamed Plain Rice Roll, 2x Mango Pudding, and 2x Snow Rabbit Coconut Milk Cake. And my mom was able to squeeze in 2x Steamed Bean Curd Roll w/ Mushroom.
Now, let's get this out of the way: All of the food was rather greasy and oily. The longer we are the food, the worse it got. This is only an issue for people who had working tastebuds. Most of the food was missing some sort of "impactful flavor", or just plain ol' salt.
The Siu Mai and Har Gow was very dense and solid. And it lacked it flavor of any kind. The only thing going for it was the portion size. The best thing to eat was the Chicken Feet (seasoned just right, including spicy kick), Beef Tripe (had the right amount of flavor), Honeycomb Tripe (right amount of chewiness), and Mango Pudding (right amount of sweet, shaped like a fish). I wasn't able to try the Custard Bun as we found out later that there was only 1 dish ordered. Surprisingly. Thanks "Game Master".
Either the dim sum dishes lacked in flavor or was overwhelming in flavor. Either to dense or too chewy. The Beef Balls were standard. The Baby Octopus had a very strong curry flavor (it was not liked). The Spareribs was more bone and fat than actual meat. The kids devoured the Custard Buns like there was no tomorrow. The Sticky Rice was very heavy and was not loved (lots of leftovers). The Turnip Cake was very pasty and mushy. Utterly disgusting. The texture was the utmost worst thing I've put in my mouth. It was hated and no one touched it. The Shrimp/Veggie and Beef Rice Rolls were bursting with filling, but they were tasteless without soy sauce. The Plain Rice Roll was for a specific family member to eat. You could say people fought over the lack of or the little number of dessert options: the Mango Pudding and the Snow Rabbit Coconut Milk Cake. These 2 desserts were very cute. Sweet tasting. The rabbit one was a bit too sweet, surprisingly for a authentic Chinese restaurant. Oh, and the dessert can melt. The Bean Curd Roll was also standard, just a bit more oily than it should be.
Overall, the restaurant was disappointing and underwhelming. We also felt cheated by the lack of dim sum price transparency. Nowhere on the website, Google Map location, and the menu states what each dish or size of each dish costs. The only thing going for this place,...
Read moreYesterday was my first and last visit to this restaurant. I have a list of food intolerances/allergies making eating out to be difficult. My grandmother and extended family were having a family lunch and invited me to attend. I called ahead and asked if I could have a custom order because of my situation. I was told it would be okay.
Upon arrival I have to admit the interior is gorgeous. The decor is stunning. Everything visual is clean and very appealing. That is the only positive thing I can say about this place.
After submitting my order the server came back and said we can't cook for you. Excuse me? What restaurant refuses to cook for a paying customer? My family ordered off the dim sum menu. There was only one custom order due to allergies for me and they were refusing to cook my order.
We requested to speak to the main floor manager thinking he would be more reasonable. We explained the situation and were very friendly with him thinking the server may have not understood the situation. He was a nasty man and made it obvious he didn't want to speak to us. He reluctantly took my order back to the kitchen.
When my food came it was not what I ordered. I got a large plate of rice Noodles with a small handful of onion mixed with beansprouts. No sauce or any other vegetables from my order. They also charged open food $18 for what cost them under $2 to make.
To top it off the manager was being extra friendly with the table next to us just to rub it in that he didn't want us there. When he made eye contact with our table he would give us dirty looks. He spoke very disrespectfully to my grandmother, mother, and father.
If you're looking for good quality authentic Chinese food you're better off eating in China Town. There is nothing fine dining about the service or food at this establishment.
I work in hospitality and would never treat any customer the way my whole family was treated at...

Crown Prince Fine Dining and Banquet offers a pleasant experience for dim sum enthusiasts. I visited for a casual weekend brunch, expecting a mix of traditional and modern dishes, and I wasn't disappointed. The food quality is notably good, with fresh ingredients that stand out in each dish. The tea selection complements the dim sum well, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Service at Crown Prince is decent, though not exceptional. The staff were polite and relatively attentive, but there were moments where I felt the response time could have been quicker, especially considering the restaurant wasn't at full capacity. Despite this, the overall atmosphere was calm and enjoyable, making it a comfortable place to dine.
One of my favourite dishes was the milk egg tarts. They come with bird's nest on top, which, while luxurious, I felt was an unnecessary addition to an already delightful dessert. The tarts are creamy and rich, making them a highlight of the meal. However, it's worth noting that the pricing here is on the higher side, which might be a consideration for those looking for more affordable options.
In summary, Crown Prince Fine Dining and Banquet is a nice place for a decent dim sum experience. The food is fresh and of good quality, with some standout dishes like the milk egg tarts, though the prices may be a bit steep for some. If you're looking for a more upscale dim sum outing with great tea and a pleasant atmosphere, this place is worth a...
