Shame on me for not realizing Wok Express been gone for a year until today, drove by and saw Momo Dumpling Express signage at the corner of my eye. Hindbrain took over, made a U-turn, next thing I knew, I was parked right in front of it.
Immediately greeted by the owner with a very welcoming and enthusiastic voice. She briefly explained the choices from their menu in a very short and concise way. I went straight for the 12 pcs Mixed Veggie Vegan Combo (they have Vegan combo as well ), it has 4 spinach paneer, 4 tofu black mushroom and 4 chives potato. Felt like the fried version instead of streamed, so paid $1.50 extra for that opinion. Took about 15 minutes for momos to be ready, which I don't mind at all, because it means gonna be nice and fresh. Absolutely fabulous! Big pieces, fresh, hot, and super tasty. The texture of the dumpling wrappers are so pleasurable to eat, almost like fresh pasta perfectly cooked al dente, they are tender but still firm to the bite. Also love how they take the time to make each different flavour with very distinct and pretty shapes. I don't have a favourite, all 3 are equally good! So happy to know now we have a new place to get our momo fix.
Edited, 6 hours later after the initial review.
Went back and got some more momos for dinner. :) This time we wanted to try the steamed version as well. The fried ones were good, but we definitely preferred the steamed. More flavourful and great texture.
Added on June 19 2021 Came here for my Momo fix. Ordered my usual "half & half", 6 steamed spinach/paneer, 6 potato/chive! While I was waiting, I saw these donut looking thingy on a tray, natural I have to try one, boy, it was so good I had to buy 2 more for late night snack! They are call Sel Roti, made with rice flour and cream of wheat, lightly sweet with nice nutty flavour...
Read moreI am Taiwanese and never heard of Momo but I saw the pictures and they look like bigger dumplings.
I got Mixed plate with 4 beef, 4 chicken and 4 pork deep Fried. Warning!!! They are extremely hot. Do not bite from the center. I burned my chin when the juice gushes out. Let it cool a bit and bite from the corner slowly !!
I really enjoy Fried momos. They are different from pan fried potstickers. The texture is more chewy. The Beef and Chicken are definitely the winners. Beef reminds me of Taiwanese street food Black pepper pastry flavor.
They gave us some spicy sauce which I did not use. I find momos alone already has flavor.
I also got chicken chow mein. It’s decent and good portion for $12. They gave quite a bit chicken and filled the whole box.
The place really needs a make over though. It needs some designs...
Read moreGreat momos obviously + one one of my recent Uber Eats order, they initially made an accidental mistake, shipped beef momos instead of chicken which was initially quite disappointing. But when I spoke with them, they rechecked my order and acknowledged the mistake, and went out of the way to ship the chicken ones again which turned my unpleasant experience into a pleasant one. It takes great customer service to accept a mistake and take the effort to rectify it. They also color code their momo wrappers so it's easy to see which momos are chicken and which are not, even before you eat them, so that's good. I couldn't change my previous poor rating on Uber Eats for the incorrect order, so decided to submit a positive one here. They are relatively pricy, but have one of the best chicken momos...
